Enterprise Architect – ServiceNow APM & Application Modernization

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to support the evolution of a ServiceNow 2.0 environment with a strong focus on Application Portfolio Management (APM), application modernization, and enterprise architecture governance.

This role will lead initiatives to improve visibility, governance, lifecycle management, and modernization planning across a diverse portfolio of enterprise applications spanning on-premises, cloud, hybrid, vendor-hosted, and business-developed solutions. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in ServiceNow APM, application rationalization, cloud architecture, and emerging technologies including AI and automation.

The Enterprise Architect will work closely with technology and business stakeholders to establish strategic roadmaps, improve portfolio health, reduce technical debt, and align application investments with organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise application portfolio management initiatives within the ServiceNow platform.
  • Assess, inventory, and classify applications across on-premises, cloud, hybrid, vendor-managed, and user-developed environments.
  • Develop and maintain APM frameworks, standards, and governance processes.
  • Establish portfolio metrics and KPIs focused on:
  • Business value
  • Cost optimization
  • Technical debt
  • Application lifecycle management
  • Modernization readiness
  • Evaluate applications and recommend modernization strategies, including:
  • Retain
  • Retire
  • Replace
  • Replatform
  • Refactor
  • Analyze application dependencies, integrations, and business capabilities to support rationalization and transformation efforts.
  • Enhance ServiceNow APM and CMDB data quality, governance models, taxonomies, and scoring frameworks.
  • Leverage AI, automation, and intelligent agents to improve portfolio insights, reporting, and decision-making.
  • Partner with cloud, cybersecurity, infrastructure, engineering, and business teams to ensure enterprise architecture alignment.
  • Develop application modernization and cloud migration roadmaps.
  • Support the creation of executive dashboards and reporting related to:
  • Portfolio health
  • Modernization progress
  • Risk exposure
  • Cost trends
  • Technology lifecycle status
  • Document architecture standards, principles, decisions, and governance procedures.
  • Promote alignment with DevSecOps practices, SDLC methodologies, and enterprise cloud governance standards.
  • Provide strategic recommendations that account for emerging technologies, AI adoption, and evolving business requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in Enterprise Architecture, Solution Architecture, or Application Architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • ServiceNow Application Portfolio Management (APM)
  • CMDB
  • Application rationalization initiatives
  • Enterprise data governance
  • Strong knowledge of Azure cloud services and hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Experience with AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform is a plus.
  • Proven expertise in application portfolio analysis, business capability mapping, and technology lifecycle management.
  • Experience evaluating application value, cost, risk, and modernization opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of:
  • APIs
  • Microservices
  • Integration platforms
  • Enterprise integration patterns
  • Experience performing dependency analysis and application landscape assessments.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML, automation technologies, and their application within enterprise architecture and portfolio management.
  • Experience producing architecture roadmaps, standards, governance frameworks, and executive-level recommendations.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-focused recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ServiceNow certifications related to APM, Architecture, or Platform capabilities.
  • Experience with enterprise transformation or large-scale modernization programs.
  • Knowledge of cloud migration frameworks and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with ITIL, TOGAF, or other enterprise architecture methodologies.
  • Experience supporting highly regulated or large-scale enterprise environments.
