JOB SUMMARY:  

The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the entire hotel facility, including the physical building structure, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and related equipment in accordance with energy conservation and preventative maintenance programs. Ensure the upkeep of guest areas to maintain an attractive hotel. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Visually assess the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the physical structure(s) of the hotel, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and any other related equipment. 
  • Implement and schedule property and equipment preventive maintenance programs in compliance with corporate/franchise standards and local, state and national codes and regulations. 
  • Verify completion of all routine maintenance on public spaces, meeting rooms, ballrooms, outlets, back of the house spaces, and grounds. Verify completion of all repairs, replacement, and renovation projects to offices and employee work areas. 
  • Assist in hiring, training, supervising, and disciplining department staff and all other staff under direction of the Director of Engineering. 
  • Adhere to all corporate-required purchasing policies and controls, including, but not limited to, all outside contractor bids, budgets, and schedules. Follow prescribed safety procedures for personnel and equipment by the company and OSHA. 
  • Maintain effective Energy Management and Preventive Maintenance programs and conduct special training for other operating departments on the safe and efficient use of equipment and energy in the hotel. 
  • Inform the Director on a regular basis regarding the specific and overall condition of the building structure(s), related systems, and equipment offering prudent, cost effective proposals for maintaining these systems. Access and input information into a computer and generate reports. 
  • Assist in the administration of the department by preparing and maintaining schedules, logs, records and other documentation to ensure a smooth operation and minimize liabilities. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs. occasionally. 
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. 
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment. 

SKILLS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school or equivalent education required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Displays engaging interpersonal skills and the ability to think and act strategically, provide sound judgment, and provide a positive and energetic attitude in the voice of the brand.  
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates or permits. 
  • Demonstrates leadership to maintain credibility, trust, and support with senior management staff. 
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.  
  • All colleagues must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per hotel standards 
  • Be skilled in several areas such as HVAC, electrical, carpentry, drywalling, painting, plumbing, roofing, and landscaping. Must be able to troubleshoot and repair routine mechanical and electrical malfunctions in hotel systems and equipment.
