About the role

As an Engineering Manager at Medallion, you will be responsible for fostering the career growth for all of your direct reports, shaping our product roadmap, and driving the technical direction of your team. You will work with leaders across the company and collaborate with talented product managers, operation managers and designers. Our engineering org is growing quickly and you will play a crucial part in building product-focused full stack teams developing scalable and impactful applications, while furthering our inclusive and empowering culture.

Medallion is actively exploring and expanding AI tooling across our engineering teams including improvements to our SDLC, research and prototyping, and building AI-powered features into our product. We're not looking for AI experts in every role, but we do look for engineers who are curious, adaptable, and eager to work in an environment where the tooling and the product are both evolving rapidly. We want everyone to contribute as we integrate AI into our work, and we expect you to stay up to date as the landscape evolves.

BThis role reports to one of our Directors of Engineering and base compensation may land between $175,000-$220,000 depending on qualifications and experience. In addition to base salary, Medallion offers equity, bonus, and benefits as part of the total compensation package. Many factors are considered when determining pay including: market data, geographic location, skills, qualifications, experience, and level.

What you'll do:

  • Lead a team (or teams) of 5-10 engineers wholly responsible for a specific product vertical
  • Work with with PMs and Designers to develop and execute a roadmap for your team
  • Help your direct reports grow their careers via technical mentorship, one on ones, and reviews 
  • Facilitate an independent, empowered, and high-performing team culture
  • Help grow the entire engineering org by interviewing and making hiring decisions

Qualifications:

  • At least 6 years of engineering experience including 3+ years of experience in a management role
  • Experience in a leadership role at a start-up
  • Passion for building and leading diverse and inclusive engineering teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Bias towards action and a proven track record of getting things done
  • Active interest and proven experience in developing process, culture, and morale
