Vividly is the leading modern trade promotion management (TPM) solution built by and for the consumer packaged goods industry. From campaign creation to deductions management and promotion measurement, we help brands manage every element of trade spend. With our easy-to-use platform and industry-leading experience, we pride ourselves on our ability to bring businesses to the next level.

Not familiar with trade promotion spend?  That’s OK.  Most people aren’t.  It’s an $8 trillion dollar problem that is ripe for disruption by an innovative SaaS startup.  In order to grow, consumer packaged goods (CPG) brands spend 20% of their topline revenue to get into retailers and promote their products within those retailers.  The problem is that today 70% of those promotions are not ROI positive. This is because ROI is hard to track.  The industry operates on emails, pdfs, and xls spreadsheets. At Vividly, we’re solving this massive problem with exciting tactics including AI, Machine Learning, and Fintech and adding value to everyone in the chain. Some of our customers include brands you may use and love - Liquid Death, Amy’s, and Laird Superfoods.

Who you are:

We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager with extensive platform experience and a proven track record of scaling apps for future users. The ideal candidate will be a technical leader who can break down complex software design challenges, organize and manage engineering teams to successfully deliver projects, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product and design. You should be adept at balancing the demands of performance, scalability, and code hygiene while maintaining technical excellence. You also still want to be close to the code, and impact the solutions you’re driving by being hands-on. If you are passionate about building robust platforms and taking innovative products to scale, we want to hear from you.

What You Will Do:
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering technical growth and a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Drive the design and implementation of scalable systems and infrastructure to meet the demands of a growing user base.
  • Roll up your sleeves and contribute to the roadmap, especially for trickier scenarios where your team is looking for your guidance.
  • Partner with product, design, and cross-functional teams to translate business goals into technical solutions that deliver impact.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of high-quality code, ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Manage technical debt and champion best practices for code hygiene, testing, and system design.
  • Balance product roadmaps with strategic technical investments to ensure long-term platform stability and flexibility.
  • Provide project management leadership, organizing teams to execute efficiently and deliver projects on time.
  • Advocate for engineering excellence, driving initiatives that enhance system reliability, scalability, and team productivity.
What We Look For:
  • 7+ years of experience working as a software engineer in architecting, building, and scaling products
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams, with a focus on mentorship and fostering growth
  • Experience with our tech stack (GCP/Python/Django/React/Redux/SQL/Docker) or a similar stack
  • Ideally experience with GraphQL and Rust
  • Exceptionally strong analytical, communication, and mentorship skills demonstrated through experience; detail-oriented, self-motivated, and willing to take the initiative to get things done
  • Strong technical expertise in system design, software architecture, and delivering scalable, high-performance solutions
  • Passion for building and leading high-performing teams and a commitment to creating a positive, inclusive work environment.
  • Experience working as a software engineer in architecting, building, and scaling products; demonstrated business-level impact across multiple cross-functional team

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
