Trust Products builds the security, governance, and data protection capabilities that make Mural a safe and reliable platform for teams around the world.

We design and operate backend services, APIs, and event-driven systems that protect customer data, provide auditability and visibility, and support governance across our SaaS platform. This work is embedded in Mural’s core architecture and held to high standards for reliability and operational maturity.

YOUR MISSION

You will lead a team responsible for building and operating systems that safeguard data and support platform integrity.

You’ll balance people leadership with hands-on technical contribution, helping your team design scalable services, ship reliably, and grow in their craft.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Lead and grow a team

    • Manage and develop full-stack engineers

    • Create clarity around priorities, ownership, and execution

    • Drive predictable delivery against a defined roadmap

    • Coach engineers in system design and operational excellence

  • Build and operate trust systems

    • Contribute hands-on (~30% of your time) to design and implementation

    • Develop backend services using Node.js and TypeScript (or similar modern stacks)

    • Build APIs and event-driven systems that support:

      • Data protection and policy enforcement

      • Audit logging and event tracking

      • Security integrations

      • Data governance controls

    • Ensure services are scalable, observable, and reliable

  • Own operational quality

    • Define and uphold service-level objectives

    • Improve monitoring, alerting, and incident response

    • Lead incident reviews and drive improvements

  • Collaborate across the platform

    • Partner with Product to translate requirements into well-scoped solutions

    • Work closely with platform and infrastructure teams

    • Track engineering metrics related to delivery and service health

Use AI effectively

  • Encourage thoughtful use of AI tools to improve quality and velocity

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • Experience building backend systems in a SaaS environment

  • Exposure to security, governance, or compliance-related capabilities

  • Strong understanding of secure API design, event-driven systems, access control, and observability

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience

  • 2+ years managing engineers

  • A hands-on leadership style — comfortable reviewing designs and code

  • Ability to bring structure to ambiguous problems

The base salary + variable pay for this role ranges from $196,000 - $240,000 + benefits. Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. .
