The Role
The Engineering & Industrialization Manager will lead the implementation, operationalization, and continuous improvement of battery cell manufacturing processes and equipment within a development facility. This role works in close collaboration with a central process engineering team to translate lab-scale innovations into scalable, robust processes that meet performance, safety, and process targets. The ideal candidate brings technical expertise in cell manufacturing and a proven history of leading engineering teams through development builds, process iteration, and ramp readiness in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
What You'll Do
Process Development & Optimization
  • Lead deployment and optimization of manufacturing processes (electrode, assembly, formation) in a development facility. Own recipes, specifications and run rules.
  • Define and execute Design of Experiment campaigns to optimize process parameters for yield, throughput, and performance of the process.
  • Collaborate with central process engineering / product engineering to scale lab processes with robust controls and documentation.

Technical Readiness & Build Support
  • Partner with central manufacturing function on Factory Acceptance Testing / Site Acceptance Testing, installation, and qualification of equipment.
  • Prepare the line for engineering builds, validation runs, and customer qualification events.
  • Support process validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) and ensure equipment and process readiness.
  • Troubleshoot process & equipment issues during builds and coordinate resolution with central engineering.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Interface with Operations to ensure process stability and operator training.
  • Work with Facilities to ensure utilities and infrastructure support evolving process needs.
  • Collaborate with Technical Program Managers to align engineering deliverables with program timelines.

Team Leadership
  • Build and lead a team of implementation-focused engineers (process, equipment, maintenance).
  • Define roles, set technical goals, and mentor engineers in problem-solving and technical execution.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing/engineering battery cells or related products, with a strong emphasis on process and equipment implementation in development and ramp-up environments.
  • Experience in translating lab scale processes into pilot-scale operations.
  • Proven history of deploying cell processes (electrode, assembly, formation).
  • Strong background in equipment commissioning, Factory Acceptance Testing / Site Acceptance Testing, and troubleshooting in development and New Product Introduction environments.
  • Deep understanding of lithium-ion cell manufacturing processes, failure modes, and equipment.
  • Demonstrated success in cross-functional execution, working with central engineering, operations, facilities.
  • Experience with automation and controls.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to operate in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with evolving requirements and aggressive timelines.
