Tooling Engineer

We’re looking for a Tooling Engineer to join Team Spectacles! As a member of the Spectacles team, you will analyze new designs and help validate the integrity and reliability of our products! Working from our Venice, CA office, you’ll collaborate with the hardware engineering team to produce amazing Spectacles products.
What you’ll do:
- Support tooling needs on plastics, casting, sheetmetal and other processes for Snap products
- Review and approve tooling designs from Snap suppliers
- Simulate and optimize mold flow analysis for plastic and cast parts including molding pressures, gate locations, cosmetics weld lines, warp, etc.
- Correlate and optimize simulations to actual molded results
- Run DOE’s to optimize molded part dimensional and cosmetic requirements
- Participate in the design, prototyping, and validation of new concepts and mass production solutions
- Provide technical support to internal teams and collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors
- Explore advanced tooling related to new materials, manufacturing technologies, and design methodologies
Minimum qualifications:
- BSME in related plastic or tooling design or 10+ years of experience in the field
- High proficiency with mold flow simulation tools
- Experience correlating and optimizing simulation to test data results
- Proficiency in molding process parameter optimization including DOE’s.
Preferred qualifications:
- Familiarity with commonly used engineering materials including plastics, metals and composite materials
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with high attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
- Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of a company
