Software Engineer Backend. Security and Developer Tools 3+ Years Experience

We’re looking for a Backend Engineer to join Team Snapchat! As a member of our team, you will design and implement the next generation of technical solutions. The Developer Tools and Security Engineering teams act as multipliers across the organization by working with partners throughout engineering to improve developer efficiency and system security via the software they develop. We dive deep into every area of the development lifecycle and build reusable components that make our platform stronger every day.
What you’ll do:
Design, implement, and operate systems, tooling and automation
Work across teams to understand product requirements, evaluate trade-offs, and deliver the solutions needed to build innovative products
Evaluate, test, and debug your work
Advocate for and apply best practices when it comes to security, availability, scalability, operational excellence, and cost management
Work cross functionally to deep dive into open problems
Participate in the operational and on-call team duties
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Experience with backend services or distributed systems
Experience in at least one of the following areas:
Microservices and distributed systems
User security, privacy and/or safety
Modern build systems (Bazel / Buck)
Continuous Integration and Deployment
Workflow Automation
Metric Analysis and Optimization
Highly-available systems
Experience with any programming language, we tend to use Golang, Java, C++, and/or Python, but think that experience in other languages brings unique value to our team
Experience with technologies like NoSQL solutions, Memcache/Redis, Kubernetes, or Google/AWS services
Incident or hotfix investigation and resolution
Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
Solve open, ambiguous problems from end to end
Loves learning and passionate about helping others
Minimum Qualifications:
BS/BA degree in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent years of experience
3+ years of software development experience
