Build & Release Engineer

We’re looking for a dynamic, highly adaptive Release Engineer to join the Snaplab quality team. Working closely with Engineering, Product Management and Design, you will be part of the control plane, helping make critical decisions that impact millions of Snapchatters around the world. You’ll collaborate closely with Engineering, Design, Customer Operations, Communications and Leadership to create & drive release process improvements that rapidly deliver reliable, high quality software to our customers.
What you'll do:
Manage all aspects of the internal and production app release process
Communicate all key release milestones, requirements and changes to the organization
Collaborates with QA, Operations, Engineering and Product Owners to perform builds, tests, and deployments to multiple environments.application in internal tooling improvements
Create Post Mortems for every release and follow up with stakeholders on action items closure
Proven experience in Continuous Integration- Configuring, scheduling & troubleshooting build pipelines
Enhance or update existing automated, or script-based testing efforts.
Strategize best practices for ongoing parallel development, featuring branching, merging, and common library management. Lead setting up CI/CD using GitHub. Integration with Jenkins
Implement standards for secure coding and deployment
Experience collaborating with other team members in multiple teams diagnosing and debugging complex systems, and participating in investigating build, deployment and operational issues
Continuously assess risk factors to our Production users and actively drive mitigation strategies
Manage risk and mitigate issues that could affect release reliability and stability
Conduct release readiness reviews and go/no-go meetings as required
Investigate, escalate and drive solutions for emergent or complex technical issues
Provide contextual judgement and use data to drive decisions
Provide after-hours support as necessary
Monitor and provide regular status reports to leadership and the organization
Measure, monitor and report on key release metrics weekly and ad-hoc as needed
What we need:
5+ years in a technical capacity with 2+ years in release management
DevOps/Continuous Delivery experience
Experience with the following or similar technologies: Python, Jenkins, Linux, Android Espresso framework
Comfortable collaborating with the team on continuous areas for improvement and turning the ideas into action
Experience managing systems releases and a deep understanding of release management principles
Experience working cross-functionally with globally distributed teams that have differing business priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence and convey messages to a wide range of stakeholders
Strong analytical skills and experience utilizing tools to visualize trends and key metric monitoring
Experience making critical decisions for complex technical issues in real time, considering timelines and urgency
Strong attention to detail and ability to execute
Understanding of Android AOSP build system
Using Tools like Jira and Slack for reporting and managing workflow for various projects/tasks
