About the Role:
As a Frontend Engineer III on our Design System team, you'll focus on building web components for our Design System and metadata-driven UI objects that power CrowdStrike's next-generation security platform. Our design system serves multiple engineering teams across the organization, powering critical security products that protect millions of users worldwide.
In this role, you'll report to an Engineering Manager and work closely with other frontend engineers, UX architects, product designers, and QA engineers to ensure accuracy, consistency, and portability across our platform. You'll be a technical leader and subject matter expert, driving design system excellence while mentoring team members and collaborating with stakeholders across the organization.

What You'll Do
Design System Development
Design, build, and scale our design system by developing production-grade web components based on Figma specifications using the Lit framework, ensuring they meet enterprise-scale requirements
Achieve and maintain near 100% test coverage using Playwright and modern testing frameworks, ensuring robust, bug-free components
Bake in accessibility (a11y), comprehensive theming (including Dark/Light/High-Contrast modes), and localization/internationalization (i18n) from the ground up
Optimize component performance and bundle size for production environments
Maintain and extend design tokens (CSS variables) to ensure coded components remain in sync with Figma design specifications
Technical Leadership & Collaboration
Conduct thorough code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback to team members
Drive technical decision-making for component architecture and implementation patterns
Serve as a subject matter expert for engineering teams integrating with the design system
Collaborate with UX architects, product designers, and QA engineers to ensure components meet our design and engineering standards
Monitor integration support channels and provide timely technical assistance
Documentation & Developer Experience
Create and maintain comprehensive component documentation, including usage guidelines, API specifications, and integration examples
Proactively gather feedback from consuming teams and iterate on components to improve developer experience
Document patterns and best practices to enhance the overall developer experience
Provide short demos showcasing your work and new component capabilities
Process & Delivery
Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and quality assurance
Participate in scrum ceremonies, team planning sessions, and roadmap reviews to ensure team alignment on short and long-term goals
Support multiple initiatives by providing essential UI components and UX patterns
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on design system best practices
What You'll Need
Experience & Education
5+ years of professional frontend engineering experience
2+ years of experience building or contributing to design systems at scale
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent practical experience
Technical Expertise
Expert knowledge of modern web standards and frontend engineering tools (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Web Components, TypeScript, Node/NPM)
Hands-on experience building user-centric and scalable UI frameworks and design systems
Experience with REST APIs and GraphQL
Strong understanding of responsive design principles and implementation
Experience with Playwright or similar modern testing frameworks
Hands-on experience with design tokens and CSS-in-JS solutions
Working knowledge of Figma or similar design tools
Proven experience utilizing AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, improve efficiency and drive business outcomes.
Accessibility & Internationalization
Deep experience with Accessibility (a11y) best practices, tools, and techniques including:
Keyboard navigation compatibility
Screen reader support
WCAG 2.2 AA compliance
Proven experience with localization and internationalization (i18n) implementation
Quality & DevOps
Track record of achieving and maintaining high test coverage standards
Knowledge of CI/CD best practices and tools for improving and maintaining performance and code quality
Experience with monorepo architectures and tooling (Nx, Turborepo, or similar)
Design System Governance
Experience with design system governance, including establishing and enforcing component standards and patterns
Track record of shipping production-grade design systems used by multiple teams
Experience with Storybook or similar component documentation tools
Soft Skills & Collaboration
Proven ability to collaborate with UX architects, product designers, and engineering teams across multiple time zones
Strong facilitation skills for design and technical discussions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Comfortable presenting demos and technical documentation to a broad range of stakeholders
Advocate for UX consistency, accessibility, and empathy for the end user
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with frontend frameworks such as React/Next.js, Vue, or Ember
Experience with AgGrid or similar data grid libraries
Experience building UIs for data-intensive security or cybersecurity products
Understanding of security best practices in frontend development
Experience working with globally distributed teams
Contributions to open-source design systems or component libraries
Experience with design system migration projects
Comfortable leveraging AI tools (Claude, Copilot, etc.) to accelerate development and improve productivity
