Job Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE 
Magna Steyr is looking for talented team members with experience in vehicle Body In White (BIW) and Closures. Passionate individuals interested in being involved in developing the next level industry standard for vehicle architecture and production solutions. This position will be responsible to support the Senior Engineering lead positions within the BIW and Closures activity through the product development phases of concept, production design and engineering, product release, and manufacturing and assembly. 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Responsibility
Contribute to the Global Technical Area (GTA) strategy and growth by supporting the Lead Engineering roles and the whole engineering team in areas such as:
•    Support APQP documentation creation and maintenance (DVP&R, DFMEA, Etc.)
•    Support sourcing documentation definition and development
•    Create and maintain Component Technical Data Sheets (CTDS)
•    Responsible for BIW component product design development and follow up
•    Support related project functional disciplines (ie: CAE/FEA, Test and Development, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, Etc.)
•    Perform detailed work assignments provided by the mentor or team member, by applying established and well-defined mechanical engineering techniques
•    Provide regular updates and summary of assignment progress to team as it relates to program goals and objectives and key project requirements
•    Support and contribute to knowledge base of internal and external best practices
•    Participate in benchmarking studies and contribute to the benchmark knowledgebase
•    Stay current with industry standards and practices and identify potential areas of continuous improvement to the team and group leads
•    Maintain regular and consistent attendance 

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR 
Project Planning, Target Achievement, Monitoring & Reporting
Employ knowledge and technical experience to support the engineering development of one or more subsystems
•    Support the project team(s) engineering in achieving project objectives, performance and cost requirements, and timing milestones
•    Assist and lead, when assigned, with external support services and resources involved with the project engineering development
•    Support work development packages assigned to third parties
•    Support the project senior engineering personnel in meeting program deliverables including, but not limited to, product definition, component design and release, validation, supplier support, launch support, etc.

Project Related Interface 
Support and Promote Project and Operations Collaboration 
·    Participate in global development touchpoint and milestone meetings 
·    Collaborate with Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) to assure production feasibility
·    Collaborate with the design studio to assure product appearance harmony
·    Collaborate with all cross functions to make complex decisions
·    Collaborate with the other project GTAs

Employee Related Tasks
Ensure cooperation with all areas within the engineering and request the required frame conditions
·    Ensure cooperation with project management
·    Ensure cooperation with all other groups within the area
·    Secure knowledge of development tools within the group
·    Maintain training level according to the training plan and required skills
·    Cooperation with all Magna Steyr locations
·    Escalation problems at the earliest time with the appropriate team members

YOUR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

•    Must have a positive “can do” attitude

•    Education– Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
•    5+ years’ relevant experience regarding the Responsibility / Activities (listed above) in serial development. 
•    Proficient Computer knowledge and skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
•    Computer knowledge and skills in CAD and CAE simulation preferred
•    Six Sigma certification preferred
•    Professional Communication skills (written and verbal)
