This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join the team as an Engineer at the #1 Hotel in Los Angeles, as voted by Travel and Leisure: Oceana in Santa Monica, CA. This oceanfront, all-suite hotel reopened in July 2019 after undergoing a $35 Million complete transformation, and we are now seeking motivated, enthusiastic professionals to become integral members of our team. 

As an Engineer, you are responsible for performing ongoing facility maintenance and completing repairs on equipment to keep the property operating and repairing any problems when they are discovered before they have a chance to worsen. If you have at least four years of maintenance experience at a luxury hotel or resort, we want you to apply today. The How…

You will use your four-plus years to maintain and repair a four-star or five-star hotel. Your day-to-day work focuses on common maintenance issues, including but not limited to fixing machinery, plumbing, heating, and wiring and inspecting the building to confirm safety standards.

You strongly desire to ensure our guests and employees a clean and safe environment. Your natural disposition toward personal and public safety, operating from a place of integrity, honesty, and ethics, supports our efforts to keep the hotel ranked as the premier luxury hotel in Los Angeles.

Your friendly, efficient, and high-touch approach is perfect for engaging with guests and team members. You appropriately address maintenance concerns and escalate issues promptly. Still, you can maintain and enforce company standards regarding operational processes and procedures related to the hotel’s maintenance program.

The Details…

You will work a full-time hospitality schedule defined by operational needs, including weekends and holidays.

Willing to conform to hotel dress and grooming standards, which include wearing the hotel-issued uniform, no visible tattoos while wearing a uniform, no unnatural hair colors, no piercings other than one pair of earrings, and neatly groomed facial hair. 

We offer many benefits to meet your needs, including medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance options. The company provides auto-enrollment in its 401(k) plan after 60 days of employment. New employees accrue 40 hours of vacation in the first year and earn 80 hours of paid sick leave per year. Eligible employees also receive holiday pay (if working) or paid holidays (if scheduled off) for six yearly holidays*.

Education and Experience
  • A high school diploma or GED is required, and a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience, preferably in property management or hospitality
  • Technical degree in a related area of study or other relevant certifications preferred
  • Prior experience in general building maintenance or painting in a hotel environment is required in one or more of the following areas, including general handyman work, light carpentry, electrical, or plumbing
  • Prior experience in maintaining and repairing HVAC systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Must have own tools
  • Valid driver’s license to operate company-owned vehicles or to utilize own vehicle for work
Physical Requirements
  • Expected work hours: Full-time on a schedule defined by operational needs
  • Travel: None
  • Work environment and physical demands:
    • Able to frequently lift or move items weighing up to 25 pounds; occasionally needs to lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds
    • Able to use hands to use and manipulate tools and objects or control equipment; adequate vision to do the same safely; stamina and dexterity
    • Able to move about the property to perform assigned tasks and responsibilities, including standing for extended periods, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling to perform functions in various weather conditions and variable climates
