The Emerging Technology TD researches, develops, and implements new technologies for VFX production, focusing on AI and VFX-related workflows.
Luma Pictures is seeking an Emerging Technology TD to join our team. This exciting role focuses on researching, developing, and implementing state-of-the-art technologies to enhance our VFX production pipeline. You will be instrumental in exploring and integrating new technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and more.
This position is open to candidates based in California (USA), Vancouver (Canada) & Melbourne (Australia).
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct cutting edge research, with a strong focus on AI
- Quickly create proofs of concept for emerging technologies to evaluate their potential integration into Luma’s pipeline
- Explore and experiment with a wide range of VFX-related technologies and workflows
- Clearly document and communicate findings, progress, and conclusions from research and testing efforts
- Stay up-to-date with cutting-edge developments, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation
You Have:
- 5+ years of experience in a VFX, animation, or gaming environment, with a focus on technical direction
- Experience with AI generators and Comfy UI
- Experience with real-time engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity) and their integration into VFX pipelines
- Experience with traditional VFX software (e.g., Maya, Houdini, Nuke) and rendering technologies
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to translate creative challenges into technical solutions
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
