About the role This role is a hands-on Electrical Engineering position supporting both engineering and field operations at Sulzer’s Pasadena, TX facility. The Electrical Engineer will split time between engineering team objectives, on-site field service work, shop engineering support, and customer-facing field service reporting.The position requires a balance of practical, hands-on responsibilities and engineering tasks. Training will be provided as part of the onboarding process, and Sulzer supports cross-disciplinary development to ensure long-term success in the role.
- Perform on-site field service, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting on electromechanical equipment
- Prepare and deliver clear, timely field service reports to customers
- Support shop-based electromechanical projects and repairs
- Prioritize and comply with internal safety initiatives and procedures
- Participate hands-on in day-to-day operational activities
- Support project coordination and basic project management activities as proficiency increases
Job Requirements
- 0–4 years of experience in Electrical Engineering or a related field (entry-level candidates welcome)
- Exposure to or experience with:
- Electric motor and generator repair, testing, or design
- Transformer repair and design
- Switchgear design, testing, and diagnostics
- Power semiconductor devices
- Solid understanding of basic power theory
- Working knowledge of:
- Operation of induction motors
- Operation of synchronous motors
- Transformer principles
- Semiconductor operation
- Winding insulation testing
- Ability and willingness to perform hands-on field and shop work
- Strong written communication skills for technical and customer reports
- Willingness to learn through on-the-job and cross-disciplinary training
