Electrical Engineer / Principal Electrical Engineer – Level 2 or Level 3
Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Electrical Engineer / Principal Electrical Engineer – Level 2 or Level 3 to join our team in Redondo Beach, CA. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.
You will have the opportunity to design, develop, procure, and manage Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) Electrical test equipment, test aids, and parts used for system level testing on spacecraft flight hardware. Daily responsibilities will require understanding EGSE requirements and equipment functionality, short and long term preparation of EGSE readiness for I&T space vehicle test campaigns, support to the test operations team with test equipment requirements, management, rework, or repair, and non-flight Electrical ground/test hardware and software development. Candidate must be able to tackle issues utilizing skills obtained in the field of electrical engineering, or a related discipline, preferably as it relates to electrical test equipment or system level integration and test.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Procuring and managing EGSE, test racks, test equipment, test aids, harnesses, and piece parts
Preparation/planning for short and long term integration and test activities requiring test equipment
Understanding electrical circuits, hardware, and software, and application of electrical engineering principles
Understanding EGSE functionality and limitations as related to test requirements
Supporting EGSE or electronics assembly, integration, checkouts, calibrations/validations, and troubleshooting/debugging
Providing solutions to a variety of technical problems of increasing scope and complexity as assigned
Basic Qualifications for Level 2:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field with 2 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field with 0 years of professional experience.
Active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
Ability to learn and integrate new programming languages or web-based/software tools and applications
Domestic or international travel to support launch campaigns may be required.
Extended shifts, Shift work, and weekend work to support testing will be required periodically.
Basic Qualifications for Level 3:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field with 5 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field with 3 years of professional experience – OR – PhD in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field with 1 year of professional experience.
Active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
Ability to learn and integrate new programming languages or web-based/software tools and applications
Domestic or international travel to support launch campaigns may be required.
Extended shifts, Shift work, and weekend work to support testing will be required periodically.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with EGSE hardware design, fabrication, or repair
Experience with ground hardware or software test automation or scripting
Experience with proliferated systems testing or production line testing/planning
Experience with electronics procurement
Programming or debugging experience with any of the following languages: STOL/JAS, Python, LabView, C++, Linux, Unix Shell
Usage of the following applications or tools: Manufacturo, InControl, Jira/Confluence, Git/Bitbucket
Experience in Aerospace or Defense industry (development or test)

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
