This is a high-impact, CTO-level strategic role responsible for defining the technical trajectory of our Hyperscaler Segment. As a Distinguished Engineer, you will serve as the primary technical interface for our most complex account relationships within the Hyperscaler space with the likes of (Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Meta). You will be expected to transcend traditional "Sales Engineering" boundaries, acting as a force-multiplier who bridges the gap between Product, Legal, Pricing, and Delivery to orchestrate monumental deals, including Ultra Long Haul (ULH) Dark Fiber and In-Line Amplifier (ILA) infrastructure. You are not just a seller; you are a process engineer and organizational leader.
Key Responsibilities
 
  • Strategic Technical Leadership:
    • Engage in CTO-level strategic discussions to architect long-term, high-capacity network infrastructure (Dark Fiber, ILA, Private Wireless).
    • Lead cross-functional "tiger teams" to navigate complex obstacles involving GCNE, Legal, Pricing, and Product to facilitate deal closure and implementation.
  • Infrastructure & Process Innovation:
    • Engineer and document standard operating procedures for products that lack documentation, specifically within the Dark Fiber and complex Lit network space.
    • Drive systemic process improvements (DLM, EMR) to streamline internal initiatives and prevent delivery failure.
    • Leverage and implement AI-driven automation (e.g., leveraging AI for route assessments, complex deal breakdown) to accelerate response times from hours to minutes.
  • Technical Pipeline Development:
    • Actively mentor and develop the technical talent pipeline within the Principal Sales Engineering organization.
  • Customer & Operational Excellence:
    • Perform at a CTO Ready level within assignments and help drive Strategy within assignments around AI Connect specifically Dark Fiber both Metro and ULH with ILA.
    • Manage and prioritize high-stakes RFPs, identifying strategic alignment versus transactional risks.
    • Maintain deep expertise in internal inventory and mapping tools (e.g., NIDR, Salesforce, inventory availability systems) to provide accurate, real-time feasibility analysis.

    • Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft
  • Revenue Support
    • This position will support over $1 Billion in Revenue realization with a Bookings target of over $250 Million. 
Core Competencies & Skills
 
  • Domain Expertise: Advanced understanding of Dark Fiber (DF) and In-Line Amplifier (ILA) capabilities, Lit network architecture, and complex LATA boundary management.
  • Complex Solutioning: Proven success navigating high-complexity agreements (MSAs/SNA), including multi-campus connections, diverse path diversity, and high-strand count requirements (e.g., 864 OSP Microcable).
  • Orchestration: Exceptional ability to foster strong relationships across internal silos (GCNE, Pricing, Legal, Sales, Product) to secure resource priority and overcome systemic obstacles.
  • Advanced Prompting & Data Analysis: Ability to utilize GenAI (Gemini/Claude) and data tools to perform deep-dive route assessments, pricing analysis, and complex deal breakdown.
  • Executive Presence: (CTO Ready) Proven track record of high-stakes customer engagement, capability to lead "whiteboard" strategy sessions with key client stakeholders, and ability to distill complex technical requirements into actionable business plans.
  • Continuous Learning Mindset: Commitment to ongoing professional development, maintaining industry-leading certifications (e.g., Google AI Professional, IT Networking (Fiber Optics), BGP Masterclass).
Qualifications
 
  • Experience: 10+ years in Sales Engineering or Network Architecture, with a specific focus on Tier-1 Hyperscaler or complex Enterprise accounts.
  • Certification: Advanced networking certifications (e.g., Juniper Pro, BGP, or similar industry-standard high-level networking credentials).
  • Track Record: Documented history of high performance in revenue attainment and account strategy, with specific experience managing "Hot" BARs (Bid Authorization Requests) and complex RFP responses under tight delivery intervals.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).

Where you’ll be working
In this mobile role, you'll primarily work from customer or field location(s), with occasional visits to a Verizon location for in-person training and meetings.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is a commission based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.

The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $149,000.00 - $286,000.00.
