ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The Dir/Sr Director, Commercial Legal and Compliance role involves providing legal and compliance support to Kura Oncology's late-stage pipeline programs, including in preparation for, and in implementation of, potential product launches. The role requires collaboration with various teams to ensure compliance with regulations and support commercialization activities. The successful candidate will partner creatively and fully with business teams to achieve critical objectives while mitigating the potential impact of compliance risks. This role will support the Chief Compliance Officer with the development and implementation of the company’s compliance program, related policies and trainings.

  • Provide legal and compliance support for Kura Oncology’s late-stage pipeline programs approaching potential commercialization and potential future commercial products.
  • Provide legal advice and counseling on healthcare, commercial and general corporate topics.
  • Support preparations for and implementation of potential future commercial product launches, including pre-approval activities and marketing strategies.
  • Serve as the primary legal support for the Commercial, Sales, Marketing, Market Access and Medical teams with respect to late-stage pipeline programs and potential future commercial products.
  • Advise business on advertising and promotion of pharmaceutical products, including compliance with FDA regulations, fraud and abuse requirements, interactions with healthcare providers and patients, market access arrangements and Sunshine Act compliance.
  • Serve as Legal representative on Medical, Legal, Regulatory Review Committee (MLR).
  • Review and approve scientific, disease state, and promotional campaigns, including communications with healthcare providers, patients and payors.
  • Advise on reimbursement activities, access services and patient support programs.
  • Support Sunshine Act compliance and reporting.
  • Support the Chief Compliance Officer to develop and implement policies, resources and training to drive comprehensive, functional knowledge among product teams on business conduct in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Support the Chief Compliance Officer to implement Kura Oncology's healthcare compliance program and Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
  • Serve as non-voting member of the appropriate committees with US commercialization partner Kyowa Kirin, ensuring alignment across teams while driving resolution of commercial legal challenges as required.
  • Support the drafting and negotiation of third-party contracts, including agreements with healthcare providers, academic institutions, vendors and distributors.
  • Manage external counsel as necessary.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • 12+ years of relevant attorney experience, including in-house experience at leading biotech or pharmaceutical companies.
  • Prior drug launch experience for oncology therapies.
  • Admitted and in good standing with a state bar and eligible to register as in-house counsel in California.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple client demands and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Juris Doctor degree and strong academic credentials.

The base range for this role at the Director level is $239,720 - $269,704 and Senior Director level is $294,790 - $328,885 per year. Individual pay may vary based on additional factors, including, and without limitation, job-related skills, experience, work location, and relevant education or training. Kura's compensation package also includes generous benefits, equity, and participation in an annual target bonus.

Kura’s pipeline consists of three investigational drug candidates: ziftomenib, tipifarnib and KO-2806. Ziftomenib, a once-daily, oral drug candidate targeting the menin-KMT2A protein-protein interaction, has received Breakthrough Therapy Designation for the treatment of R/R NPM1-mutant acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Kura has completed enrollment in a Phase 2 registration-directed trial of ziftomenib in R/R NPM1-mutant AML (KOMET-001). The Company is also conducting a series of clinical trials to evaluate ziftomenib in combination with current standards of care in newly diagnosed and R/R NPM1-mutant and KMT2A-rearranged AML. Tipifarnib, a potent and selective farnesyl transferase inhibitor (FTI), is currently in a Phase 1/2 trial in combination with alpelisib for patients with PIK3CA-dependent head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (KURRENT-HN). Kura is also evaluating KO-2806, a next-generation FTI, in a Phase 1 dose-escalation trial as a monotherapy and in combination with targeted therapies (FIT-001).
