About Priority Commerce:

Priority Commerce is a leading financial technology company on a mission to deliver a personalized, easy-to-adopt financial toolset that accelerates cash flow and optimizes working capital for businesses. Our vision is to eliminate the barriers to unlocking revenue - empowering businesses to grow faster and operate smarter.

We achieve this through the Priority Commerce Engine, an innovative platform that combines payables, acquiring, and banking and treasury solutions. This unified approach allows businesses to streamline financial operations, reduce unnecessary costs, and uncover new revenue opportunities.

At Priority Commerce, we're driven by results. We expect our people to be known for results - bringing expertise, momentum, and relentless focus to every challenge, helping our clients and each other thrive.

About the Role:

We are looking for a Director, Banking, Treasury & Platform Transactional Risk Monitoring to own day-to-day fraud and credit risk monitoring for Priority’s Banking, Treasury & Platform services. Priority Commerce operates on a program manager model — Priority Commerce onboards program managers, who in turn onboard the underlying businesses and/or consumers that actually transact. This role is responsible for monitoring risk at both layers: the program manager level and the underlying accountholder level beneath each program. You'll be the person accountable for catching and resolving risk issues day to day, including with our card issuing programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Own day-to-day fraud and credit risk transaction monitoring for  Priority’s Banking and Treasury Platform — alert review, investigation, case disposition, and loss mitigation across account takeover, first-party fraud, synthetic identity, and payment fraud typologies.

  • Monitor risk across all layers of the platform: at the program manager level (overall program-level activity and exposure) and at the underlying business/consumer accountholder level that each program manager onboards.

  • Review and act on daily transaction, account, and case activity to identify emerging fraud rings, loss trends, and credit deterioration signals — driving the alerts to resolution, not just triage.

  • Manage credit risk exposure for accountholders on an ongoing basis — applying underwriting criteria, tracking exposure limits, and executing account review triggers at both the program manager and end-accountholder level.

  • Support Priority’s card issuing programs from a risk and fraud perspective — monitoring card-present and card-not-present activity and managing dispute/chargeback trends.

  • Tune and calibrate existing monitoring rules and scoring models to reduce false positives and minimize fraud/credit losses while preserving a smooth customer experience; recommend enhancements as volume and program manager count scale.

  • Build and maintain fraud and credit loss reporting and dashboards for internal leadership, tracking loss rates, alert volumes, recovery rates, and key risk indicators across program managers and underlying accountholders.

  • Respond to partner bank inquiries related to fraud and credit risk on Priority’s Commerce platform, and provide reporting and updates in line with each bank's requirements.

  • Partner with internal product and engineering teams to close control gaps and inform product decisions that affect fraud or credit exposure.

  • Document day-to-day procedures for the monitoring program and prepare the team to bring on analyst support as alert volume grows.

  • Maintain baseline awareness of BSA/AML and regulatory obligations as they intersect with fraud and credit risk work, partnering with the Compliance team and partner banks on any BSA/AML-specific requirements.

What Success Looks Like:

  • You own the risk results for your product lines, helping your product areas hit overall financial targets.

  • You partner with the business leaders for your products to effectively balance revenue growth, customer friction, and risk.

  • You establish effective and efficient transaction monitoring policies and procedures.

  • You are flexible, working with customers and prospects that have unique needs while also delivering a scalable risk management environment.

  • You maintain effective relationships with banking partners.

Candidate Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in banking fraud risk, credit risk, or transaction monitoring, ideally within a bank, fintech, payments company, or embedded banking/BaaS environment.

  • Proven track record owning day-to-day transaction risk monitoring — working alerts and cases to resolution, not just designing the rules that generate them.

  • Experience monitoring risk across a multi-layer program structure (e.g., a program manager, ISO, or platform model where sub-merchants, businesses, or consumers are onboarded beneath an intermediate program) is a strong plus.

  • Track record of reducing fraud or credit losses through rule tuning, model calibration, or policy changes, with the data to back it up.

  • Experience with fraud detection, case management, or credit decisioning systems

  • Experience supporting a card issuing program — familiarity with bank oversight processes and dispute and chargeback procedures.

  • Familiarity with payments and treasury products — ACH, wires, card transactions, embedded banking, or similar — is a strong plus.

  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-moving, high-volume caseload environment.

  • Strong analytical skills and comfort with data — able to spot patterns in transaction and account data and translate them into policy or rule changes.

  • Working knowledge of BSA/AML fundamentals is helpful but not the focus of this role; day-to-day compliance and SAR filing sit with a separate Compliance function.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; comfortable corresponding with partner banks on routine fraud and credit matters.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Statistics, or related field, or equivalent experience.

We believe great performance starts with feeling supported - and we’ve built our benefits with that in mind.

 Traditional Physical Requirements:

  • Requires prolonged sitting, standing, bending, stooping and stretching.

  • Requires the ability to lift 10 pounds.

  • Requires eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity and a normal range of hearing and vision (with or without correction).

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
