PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $194,400.00-$237,800.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $151,400.00 - $280,900.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

Employees and their eligible family members have access to a wide array of employee benefits, such as medical, dental, vision and life insurance coverage.  Employees have access to disability and AD&D insurance.  We also offer health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts, as well as health savings accounts, to eligible employees.  Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan and employer-funded retirement plan.  Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE:
As the Director of Technology – Marketing & Communications, you will play a pivotal execution role in transforming BECU’s digital presence. This role demands a proactive, sleeves-rolled-up leader who’s eager to dive into the work, solve problems in real-time, and lead by example. Your leadership will drive the modernization of our website (.org), optimizing the technology stack behind it, and ensuring seamless digital experiences for our members. You will manage the technology stack powering our marketing technology and website platforms, enhance marketing technology integrations, and guide a team to deliver a personalized, data-driven, and high-performing website. This role requires a dynamic leader who can balance technical depth, strategic vision, and team leadership to ensure our digital presence is high-performing, scalable, and engaging for our customers.

To join our dynamic team, we require candidates to be residents of WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, GA, or SC. If you’re located in Washington state and within a reasonable driving distance from Tukwila, we are requesting that you come into our HQ on Tuesdays & Wednesdays.  For those candidates that live outside the commute distance of TFC and in any of our approved remote work locations, this role will be remote. Remote or onsite, we are committed to ensuring you are fully engaged and included in our collaborative environment. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Technical leadership: Manage and guide cross-functional software engineering teams in designing, building, and delivering scalable, secure, and resilient enterprise website and marketing systems.
  • Platform Ownership: Oversee the development of our public facing website, marketing automation platforms, A/B testing frameworks and personalization technologies.
  • Performance and Optimization: Implement robust monitoring, analytics, and site performance optimizations to drive engagement, conversion, and SEO rankings.
  • Strategic execution leadership: Act as a consultant for marketing technology line of business, ensuring scalable and cohesive solutions while balancing innovation and operational efficiency.
  • Advance DevOps & CI/CD Capabilities: Champion the use of modern engineering practices including infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, test automation, and observability tooling to improve release velocity and system reliability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with architecture, infrastructure, API , online banking, mobile banking, and data teams to integrate APIs, unify marketing processes, and drive enterprise-wide digital marketing initiatives.
  • Build & Develop a High-Performance Team: Serve as a technical mentor and coach to the team at all levels. Create development plans, support technical growth, and foster a culture of accountability, learning, and pride in craftsmanship.
  • Ensure Operational Stability: Own system health, performance, and monitoring for critical applications. Lead teams through incident resolution, root cause analysis, and long-term fixes.
  • Optimize Marketing Technology Stack: Ensure seamless integration between CMS, marketing cloud platforms (Adobe, Salesforce), and other digital tools to enable data-driven decision-making.
  • Security & Compliance: Ensure all digital assets comply with industry security, privacy, and accessibility standards (e.g., GDPR, WCAG, etc.).

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
 • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
 • 7+ years of leadership experience managing technology teams.
 • 8+ years of experience in information technology, with a focus on web development, CMS, and digital marketing technology.
 • Expertise in CMS platforms, content architecture, and digital experience management.
 • Understanding of SEO, personalization tools, and API-driven integrations.
 • Experience in building headless content websites and managing digital marketing technology systems.
 • Proven ability to align technology strategies with marketing objectives.
 • Stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Desired Qualifications:
 • Experience in fintech, financial services, or high-growth technology environments.
 • Knowledge of headless CMS architecture and implementation.
 • Familiarity integrating with marketing cloud platforms such as Adobe Marketing Cloud or Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
 • Hands-on experience with React/Javascript frameworks and front-end development strategies.
 • Background in data integration, analytics, and leveraging APIs for marketing automation.
