PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $169,200.00-$206,700.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $131,800.00 - $244,400.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

Employees and their eligible family members have access to a wide array of employee benefits, such as medical, dental, vision and life insurance coverage.  Employees have access to disability and AD&D insurance.  We also offer health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts, as well as health savings accounts, to eligible employees.  Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan and employer-funded retirement plan.  Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE: 

As Senior Manager of Technology with a focus on Automation and Performance Testing at BECU, you will be at the forefront of driving our quality initiatives, ensuring the alignment of technology strategies with business goals. You’ll modernize our platforms and enhance our digital transformation through the adoption of cutting-edge testing practices. Your leadership and expertise will be critical in driving the shift to more automated, efficient, and scalable solutions. With your focus on agile methodologies and Automated Testing practices, you will play a key role in improving the software development lifecycle and empowering teams to deliver impactful results. Your contributions will ensure that BECU remains a leader in innovation and technology. 

To join our dynamic team, we require candidates to be residents of WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, GA, or SC. If you’re located in Washington state and within a reasonable driving distance from Tukwila, we are requesting that you come into our HQ on Tuesdays & Wednesdays.  For those candidates that live outside the commute distance of TFC and in any of our approved remote work locations, this role will be remote. Remote or onsite, we are committed to ensuring you are fully engaged and included in our collaborative environment. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

  • Drive Technology Alignment: You’ll ensure that technology and testing initiatives are in sync with BECU’s strategic goals—keeping the member and user experience at the center of every solution By deeply understanding business needs and processes, you will help develop business cases and cost/benefit analyses to ensure that technology solutions are aligned with organizational objectives. 

  • Innovate and Lead: You’ll stay ahead of the curve, identifying market-leading technology and systems testing solutions to meet business needs. You’ll take the lead in developing RFPs, business cases, and project charters, all aimed at bringing innovative ideas to life for the benefit of the organization. 

  • Develop and Mentor Teams: You’ll provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and training to your team, helping them grow and perform at their best. You’ll ensure that performance evaluations are conducted on a timely basis to foster both individual and team success. 

  • Manage Projects and Delivery: You’ll manage technical requirements, engineering, and the delivery of key projects ensuring system level integrations, performance and stability. By implementing agile practices, you’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that business objectives are met, and projects are delivered on time. 

  • Collaborate with Business Units: You’ll work together with business teams to support specific technology platforms and make sure technology roadmaps are aligned with the business’s strategic, operational, and tactical goals. 

  • Improve Engineering Practices: You’ll lead efforts to continuously improve engineering practices across the software development lifecycle with focus on system integration, performance testing and automation ensuring system stability. Your focus will be on maintaining high-quality requirements, code, and assurance while embracing modern CI/CD practices and automation. 

  • Build a Testing-Centered Culture: Promote a quality-first mindset across teams by embedding performance and automation testing into every phase of the development lifecycle.  

  • Deliver Test Strategy and Roadmaps: You’ll create and evolve test roadmaps that introduce cutting-edge automation and performance testing approaches to keep BECU competitive and resilient.   

  • Define and Report Testing Metrics: You’ll build trust and transparency through data by delivering regular testing and performance metrics to executive stakeholders—highlighting your team’s measurable impact.   

  • Uplift QA Talent and Culture: You’ll mentor a diverse team of testing professionals, fostering an inclusive environment, and leading technical upskilling programs. Your focus will be on promoting excellence in systems testing, including automation and performance testing, ensuring system reliability, scalability, and overall functionality.  

  • Build a Testing Center of Excellence: You’ll establish best practices, standards, and methodologies that raise the bar for quality engineering and ensure systems testing is repeatable, consistent, and embedded across product teams.  

  • Ensure Timely Delivery: You’ll oversee the delivery of projects to business areas, ensuring that they are executed in a timely manner while managing project lifecycles and mitigating any risks or obstacles. 

  • Contribute to Governance and Planning: You’ll play an active role in governance meetings, business planning, and initiative reviews, ensuring that all projects align with the overall strategic vision and adhere to timelines, budget, and goals. 

  • Vendor and Partner Collaboration: You’ll manage vendor relationships, providing input on Statements of Work (SOWs) and contracts. You’ll also oversee the activities of external partners to ensure smooth execution of projects and initiatives. 

  • Develop Product Roadmaps: Working with key stakeholders, you’ll define and optimize product roadmaps. Your leadership will help guide the delivery of features and functionality that directly impact organizational goals. 

  • Foster Continuous Learning: You’ll stay current with the latest trends in technology, ensuring that both you and your team have the knowledge and skills to lead initiatives effectively. You’ll encourage an environment of continuous learning and growth. 

  • Build a High-Performance Team: You’ll create and sustain a high-performance culture by fostering agility, promoting continuous learning, and supporting the professional growth of your team members.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related field. 

  • Typically requires 3 years of People Leader experience, with a focus on managing testing teams. Experience leading technology teams 

  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in information technology with demonstrated expertise in DevOps practices, cloud infrastructure, system automation, and performance testing. 

  • Domain experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and/or Infrastructure/Operations and/or financial products experience (i.e. Credit Card, Mortgage, Auto Loan, Deposits, etc.) 

 

Desired Qualifications:  

  • Demonstrated experience with performance testing, scalability testing, and load testing in cloud and on-prem environments. 

  • Experience building technology platforms and teams 

  • Experience with automated testing tools such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, and Cucumber. 

  • Experience with performance testing tools like JMeter and LoadRunner. 

  • Knowledge of continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools such as Azure Devops, Jenkins, GitLab CI, and CircleCI. 

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. 

  • Advance degree preferred. 

  • Delivery experience working under an Agile/Scrum methodology preferred. 

  • Working experience of software engineering best practices including coding standards, change management, manage incidents, CI/CD, build processes, testing, and operations preferred. 

  • Technology fundamentals, design, problem solving, and complexity analysis preferred. 

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and product management to understand requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs preferred.
