Tenstorrent is leading the industry on cutting-edge AI technology, revolutionizing performance expectations, ease of use, and cost efficiency. With AI redefining the computing paradigm, solutions must evolve to unify innovations in software models, compilers, platforms, networking, and semiconductors. Our diverse team of technologists have developed a high performance RISC-V CPU from scratch, and share a passion for AI and a deep desire to build the best AI platform possible. We value collaboration, curiosity, and a commitment to solving hard problems. We are growing our team and looking for contributors of all seniorities.

Tenstorrent is looking for a senior operator to act as a hybrid Chief of Staff and execution-focused TPM for the RISC-V software organization. This is a high-autonomy role for someone who can help define team goals, turn them into executable plans, and independently drive cross-functional initiatives to completion.

This person will partner closely with the RISC-V software team and workstream leaders to improve planning, execution, dependency tracking, and operational visibility across the org. They should be comfortable thinking ahead on bottlenecks and risks, building mitigation plans early, and helping leadership focus on the highest-value work.

The role also includes org headcount planning, recruiting coordination, external asks, and helping prepare presentations and supporting material for customer or partner engagements. We are looking for someone who can represent the team well, filter noise, and become one of the visible faces of the organization.

This role is hybrid, based out of Santa Clara, CA,  Austin, TX or remote from the United States or Australia.

We welcome candidates at various experience levels for this role. During the interview process, candidates will be assessed for the appropriate level, and offers will align with that level, which may differ from the one in this posting.

Who You Are

  • A senior operator who combines strategic thinking with strong execution.
  • Comfortable driving complex technical initiatives across multiple teams.
  • Strong communicator with credibility across engineering, product, and leadership.
  • Good at creating structure in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
  • Pragmatic, low-ego, and able to operate independently.

What We Need

  • Goal & Execution Tracking: Partner with RISC-V software workstream leaders to define, track, and execute team milestones.
  • Program & Risk Management: Build dependency tracking and risk mitigation paths to solve bottlenecks before they escalate.
  • Operational Infrastructure: Drive cross-functional initiatives across software delivery, engineering infrastructure, and external asks.
  • Org & Talent Scaling: Support headcount planning, recruiting logistics, and hiring loop discipline to scale the organization.
  • Leadership Leverage: Filter inbound noise and prepare pitch/presentation materials so leadership can focus on high-value work.

What You Will Learn

  • Technical Leadership: Proven experience leading large technical programs or serving as a Chief of Staff/Senior Operator for a technical org.
  • Domain Expertise: A strong track record working with engineering teams in systems software, infrastructure, or semiconductors.
  • Strategic Shaper: Demonstrated ability to shape and define initiatives from scratch, rather than just tracking them.
  • Stakeholder Influence: Strong judgment and communication skills to influence senior stakeholders and drive cross-team outcomes.

Compensation for all engineers at Tenstorrent ranges from $100k - $500k including base and variable compensation targets. Experience, skills, education, background and location all impact the actual offer made.

Tenstorrent offers a highly competitive compensation package and benefits, and we are an equal opportunity employer.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
