Saviynt, Inc. is seeking a highly technical and strategic Director of Revenue Recognition to lead our global revenue accounting function. As a key leader in our finance organization, you will be the subject matter expert for ASC 606, ensuring our revenue accounting policies are robust, compliant, and scalable. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced SaaS environment and possesses deep hands-on experience with NetSuite Advanced Revenue Management (ARM). You will bridge the gap between complex technical accounting theory and day-to-day operational execution.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Technical Accounting Leadership: Act as the primary authority on ASC 606. Draft and maintain revenue recognition policies, technical memos, and accounting position papers.
  • System Ownership (NetSuite ARM): Oversee the configuration and optimization of NetSuite ARM. Ensure revenue arrangements, plans, and schedules are accurately generated and aligned with contractual terms. Act as a key player in revenue-related system integration and automation projects.
  • Deal Desk Collaboration: Partner with Sales, Legal, and Sales Operations to review pending contracts. Provide guidance on deal structuring to optimize revenue outcomes and ensure compliance with GAAP. Serve as consultative resource to go-to-market teams prior to launching sales plays, partner programs, and sales incentive programs.
  • Month-End Close: Lead the revenue close process, including the review of journal entries, reconciliations, and the fluctuation analysis of deferred revenue and unbilled receivables. Lead the design and implementation of quarter-end and year-end analytics.
  • Audit & Compliance: Manage the relationship with external auditors for all revenue-related matters. Ensure internal controls are designed and operating effectively across the revenue cycle.
  • SaaS Metrics: Provide insights into key SaaS performance indicators (ARR, Churn, Net Retention, etc.) and how they intersect with GAAP revenue.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • ASC 606 Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of the five-step model for revenue recognition within the software and SaaS industry.
  • NetSuite ARM Mastery: Direct, hands-on experience managing and/or auditing revenue within the NetSuite Advanced Revenue Management module.
  • SaaS Industry Background: Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 4 years specifically in a high-growth SaaS environment.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA license is highly preferred.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to translate complex technical accounting standards into actionable business processes.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical accounting concepts to non-finance stakeholders.

If required for this role, you will:
- Complete security & privacy literacy and awareness training during onboarding and annually thereafter
- Review (initially and annually thereafter), understand, and adhere to Information Security/Privacy Policies and Procedures such as (but not limited to):

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
