HOW WE LEAD:

The Director, Physical Sales and Marketplace Strategies will drive UMG’s physical retail and marketplace sales, and lead broader multi-channel strategies. This role is responsible for maximizing revenue opportunities, innovating commerce strategies, and building strong relationships with label, retail and marketplace partners. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, passionate about music, and adept at navigating the evolving landscape of physical and digital sales.

HOW YOU'LL CREATE:

• Lead and execute physical sales strategies across retail accounts, marketplaces, and non-traditional outlets.
• Develop and implement innovative multi-channel retail initiatives to expand revenue streams and fan engagement.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with physical retail and marketplace partners, ensuring optimal product placement and promotional opportunities.
• Oversee inventory management, product distribution, and logistics in collaboration with internal teams.
• Analyze sales data and market trends to identify growth opportunities and optimize performance.
• Collaborate with marketing, label, and merchandising teams to strategize and execute artist events, pop-ups, and in-store appearances.
• Champion new platforms, technologies, and community-first models to enhance fan acquisition and engagement.
• Provide regular reporting on revenue, account trends, and campaign effectiveness.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and refine processes to improve efficiency and outcomes.
• Serve as a strategic advisor to internal stakeholders, sharing best practices and insights on marketplace and consumer strategies.

Skills/Abilities:
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Office, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with emphasis on executive-level presentation and relationship building within UMG, labels, and partners.
• Meticulous attention to detail, superior organization, and time management.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to interpret data and drive actionable insights.
• Capacity to lead multiple projects and produce high-quality results under tight deadlines in a team environment.
• Innovative, creative, and resourceful problem solver.
• Deep understanding of physical product sales, supply chain, and marketplace dynamics.
• Familiarity with e-commerce, D2C, CRM, and community platforms within the music or entertainment industry.
• Ability to quickly learn new systems and adapt to changing business needs.
Experience:
• Minimum 5+ years’ experience in business operations, sales, and marketing at a music/media company, digital partner, or related digital content industry.
• Proven track record in physical retail, marketplace sales, and e-commerce strategy.
• Experience managing distributed teams and collaborating across departments.
• Demonstrated success in driving adoption of new platforms and practices.
Education:
• BA degree (4-year college) or equivalent required.

$125,700 - $146,700
