The Trade Desk is transforming the way global brands, and their agencies, advertise to audiences around the world. Why? Because at its best, the internet is an open marketplace of ideas, content, and commerce fueled by relevant advertising. That’s why we created an independent media buying platform designed for the open internet. One that helps marketers reach more customers in more places, with more transparency and choice at every stage.

We believe in the amazing power of human potential and that unlocking that potential requires deep understanding of the psychological and emotional factors that influence human performance. We also believe our espoused culture and values should accurately reflect our organization’s behavior. We believe these needs become more acute as organizations grow in size, complexity, pressure and constraints. So, if you’re a talented, driven, creative, and hungry leader who wants to bring something entirely new and wildly ambitious into the world (and have some fun doing it), then we want to talk.

What you’ll do:

  • Reporting to the VP of People & Organizational Development, the Director of People Development will lead a team of People Development Partners.
  • Guide the team in raising the level of emotional and developmental intelligence across the company in service of developing high-performing leaders and teams.

  • Help to evolve TTD’s model for high-impact coaching across all levels of the organization to reshape leadership standards and unleash the potential of all TTD’s people.
  • Evaluate TTDs organizational behavior and develop scalable practices to deepen connection and trust in a sustainable and high-impact manner.
  • Collaborate with leaders across the People & Organizational Development, Learning & Development, People Operations and Talent Acquisition departments to create and execute a holistic strategy to support each of the company’s business units in achieving their goals.

Who you are:

  • Doctoral or master's degree in clinical psychology or a related field.
  • 10+ years' experience in clinical psychology and/or as an executive coach.
  • Deep working knowledge of constructive developmental theory with a focus on applying the theory to leadership development in a corporate setting.
  • Experience with people management.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
