About COVU

COVU is building the future of insurance operations — combining AI, automation, and licensed U.S. talent to help independent agencies run and grow their businesses. We partner with agencies nationwide to handle servicing, growth, and operations, allowing owners to focus on scale and profitability.

As we expand our national footprint, we’re looking for a Director of Marketing to lead brand, creative, and content strategy — shaping how COVU shows up in the industry, drives demand, and communicates our value to both agency partners and the broader insurance ecosystem.

Role Overview

The Director of Marketing is a hybrid strategic and hands-on leadership role responsible for defining and executing COVU’s marketing strategy. You’ll blend creativity with data-driven growth, managing brand storytelling, content creation, design, and communications — while collaborating closely with Growth Marketing, Partner Growth, and RevOps to ensure every marketing effort ties to measurable business outcomes.

This role requires a hands-on leader — someone who can personally create, edit, and execute projects when needed, while also building, mentoring, and scaling a world-class team as COVU grows. You’ll work in a fast-moving environment where innovation, speed, and quality execution matter equally.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Leadership

  • Own and execute the marketing strategy aligned with COVU’s growth and revenue goals.
  • Translate business objectives into brand, content, and campaign initiatives that drive measurable results.
  • Partner with Demand Gen, RevOps, and Partner Growth to align marketing performance with pipeline and retention goals.
  • Define and uphold COVU’s brand identity, voice, and creative standards across all touchpoints.
  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team (content, design, social, and creative), fostering a culture of ownership and excellence.
  • Be a hands-on operator — comfortable executing personally when needed, especially in content creation, campaign strategy, and creative direction.

Brand, Content, and Creative

  • Lead creative direction for all marketing initiatives, ensuring design and messaging consistency across web, digital, and social channels.
  • Oversee development of blogs, newsletters, videos, and partner communications that reinforce COVU’s industry leadership.
  • Collaborate with the Product and Partner Growth teams to support go-to-market storytelling, co-marketing campaigns, and customer success stories.
  • Ensure all content is optimized for distribution, SEO, and conversion performance.

Growth & Performance

  • Collaborate with Demand Gen to support lead generation, paid ads, events, and outbound campaigns with brand-aligned creative and messaging.
  • Work with RevOps to measure marketing effectiveness, conversion metrics, and ROI.
  • Support CRO and funnel optimization initiatives across landing pages, email flows, and campaign sequences.
  • Use data and experimentation to refine strategy, messaging, and creative execution.

AI-Driven Marketing & Innovation

  • Leverage AI tools for content creation, research, personalization, and workflow automation to accelerate speed and output.
  • Stay ahead of emerging AI marketing technologies (e.g., ChatGPT, Jasper, Runway, Midjourney, etc.) and incorporate them into the team’s toolkit.
  • Train and guide the marketing team on effective, ethical use of AI products to enhance productivity and creativity.

What You Bring

  • 7–10 years of marketing experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record in both brand-building and performance marketing in a B2B or B2B2C environment.
  • Strong storytelling skills and a portfolio demonstrating creative excellence.
  • Deep familiarity and comfort with AI marketing tools and emerging technologies — able to integrate them into workflows and strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate hands-on in an early-stage or fast-scaling environment while acting as a leader who can grow and mentor a team.
  • Data-driven mindset with experience collaborating with RevOps, Sales, and Product teams.
  • Excellent communication, project management, and prioritization skills.
  • Bonus: Experience in insurance, fintech, SaaS, or other tech-driven industries.

Key Metrics of Success

  • Brand awareness and engagement (organic reach, SEO, earned media).
  • Quality and consistency of creative output.
  • Marketing-sourced contribution to pipeline and revenue growth.
  • Efficiency and innovation in marketing operations through AI adoption.
  • Stakeholder alignment and satisfaction across Growth, Sales, and Product.

Benefits

At COVU, we invest in the well-being and future of our people. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:

  • Multiple high-quality medical plan options through Anthem and Kaiser
  • Generous dental and vision coverage
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) with 24/7 confidential support
  • Employer contributions: 80% toward employee premiums and 50% for dependents
  • 401(k) retirement plan through Vanguard, with automatic eligibility after one month of service
  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) for healthcare and dependent care
  • Competitive paid time off, including:
    • Vacation
    • Sick leave
    • 11 company holidays

Why Join COVU

  • Be part of a company transforming one of the most traditional industries through AI and innovation.
  • Work with a team that moves fast, values impact, and encourages experimentation.
  • Lead a growing marketing function where your creativity and execution directly shape the company’s trajectory.
  • Competitive compensation, equity participation, and opportunities for advancement as COVU scales nationally.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
