Role OverviewWe're seeking an experienced Director of Marketing to lead and scale our marketing function during a critical growth phase. Reporting to our Head of Sales Operations, you'll initially manage a team of two direct reports (GTM & Campaign Manager and Content & Events Manager) and drive the full marketing strategy—from brand/product positioning and demand generation to content creation and event execution.

ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & DevelopmentHire, mentor, and manage a growing marketing team (starting with two direct reports)
Set clear goals, priorities, and performance metrics aligned with company OKRs
Foster a culture of experimentation, data-driven decision making, and continuous improvement
Develop team capabilities through coaching, feedback, and professional development
Build scalable processes and automated systems as the team grows
Own the marketing strategy and roadmap in partnership with the leadership team
Define and refine our Ideal Customer Profile and go-to-market segmentation
Drive product marketing and positioning strategy, ensuring messaging consistency across all channels
Set and track KPIs for pipeline generation, brand awareness, and marketing-influenced revenue
Translate business objectives into prioritized marketing initiatives with measurable outcomes
Own top-of-funnel strategy and execution, including ABM programs targeting institutional CRE owners
Drive multi-channel campaign strategy (outbound, paid, content, events) to generate qualified pipeline
Optimize marketing technology stack and attribution models
Partner closely with Sales to ensure alignment on lead quality, handoff processes, and opportunity acceleration
Report on marketing performance, pipeline contribution, and ROI to executive leadership
Elevate brand positioning and visual identity to match company growth stage and market opportunity
Oversee content strategy across blogs, videos, social media, webinars, and thought leadership
Ensure brand consistency and messaging integrity across all touchpoints
Lead event strategy including sponsorships, conferences, webinars, and executive engagements
Position Lumen Energy and its executives as category leaders in commercial solar and clean energy
Serve as the marketing partner to Sales, Product, and executive leadership
Collaborate on go-to-market strategy for new products, markets, and partnerships
Ensure sales enablement materials and tools support revenue goals
Represent marketing in strategic company planning and decision making
CEO or Fractional CMO: 1:1: 1-2x/week
Head of Sales Ops: 2x/week
Marketing Team Leadership: Weekly team meeting, regular 1:1s with direct reports
Sales-Marketing Alignment: Weekly or bi-weekly
Executive Leadership/All-Hands: Weekly
Cross-functional project meetings: As needed (design, product, operations)
10+ years of progressive B2B marketing experience, with at least 3-5 years in leadership roles
Proven track record building and scaling demand generation programs that drive measurable pipeline and revenue
Experience managing and developing high-performing marketing teams
Deep expertise across multiple marketing disciplines (demand gen, content, events, product marketing, brand)
Strong analytical skills with ability to translate data into strategy and action
Excellent communication and storytelling skills—both written and verbal
Experience working closely with sales teams and understanding B2B sales cycles
Comfort operating in fast-paced, high-growth environments with evolving priorities
Strategic thinker who can also execute tactically when needed
Experience in climate tech, proptech, commercial real estate, or B2B SaaS
Background selling to institutional buyers or complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles
Deep knowledge of ABM strategies and execution at scale
Experience with HubSpot, Salesforce, and modern martech stacks
Track record positioning category-creating or category-defining companies
MBA or equivalent business experience
Existing network in sustainability, commercial real estate, or clean energy sectors a plu
Salary Range: $172,000 - $215,000 base salary
Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and geographic location
Additional compensation may include equity/stock options
