We are seeking a highly motivated, strategic, and results-oriented Director, Legal Operations (Chief of Staff) to partner directly with our Chief Legal Officer (CLO) and legal leadership. This critical role sits at the intersection of business strategy, legal expertise, and operational excellence. You will be instrumental in enhancing the effectiveness, efficiency, and technological maturity of the entire Legal Department. Your focus will be on driving budgeting and financial rigor, standardizing and improving legal operations, ensuring seamless coordination of key projects and workflows, and spearheading the evaluation and deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) tools to boost departmental productivity. This is an exciting opportunity for an operational leader with a passion for transforming the practice of law through technology and process optimization.
What You’ll Do:
Strategic Budgeting & Financial Management
Own Legal team budget planning and management including outside counsel spend, technology investments, and headcount planning.
Develop and implement cost-saving strategies, managing external counsel and vendor spend.
Provide regular, detailed financial reporting and analysis to legal leadership.
Legal Operations & Process Optimization
Design, implement, and maintain robust legal processes that scale with ServiceTitan's growth trajectory.
Lead legal project management initiatives for complex transactions, policy rollouts, and training.
Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and attainment of goals for the Legal team to measure workload, productivity, quality, and cycle times.
Collaborate across the Legal team to identify and tackle opportunities for standardization and streamlining of cross-functional legal workflows to eliminate bottlenecks and ensure consistency.
Project Coordination & Chief of Staff Duties
Act as a central coordinator for all significant Legal team projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with the legal leadership’s strategic priorities.
Develop and manage the departmental roadmap, tracking progress, identifying risks, and ensuring timely completion of goals across functions with the legal team.
Manage internal communications and meeting cadences for the legal leadership team, ensuring clear alignment and follow-up on action items.
Lead cross-training initiatives to build legal team capabilities and reduce single points of failure.
AI Strategy & Productivity Deployment
Lead the research, evaluation, piloting and deployment of AI technologies for use cases both within the Legal team and in partnership with key Legal stakeholders.
Develop a risk-mitigated deployment strategy for new legal technology, focusing on data security, privacy, and ethical AI usage.
Champion the adoption of new legal technology and provide training and support to maximize department-wide utilization and productivity gains.
What You’ll Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Law, or a related field.
JD from accredited law school with active bar admission preferred.
Legal operations certification (e.g., CLOC) a plus.
5+ years of legal operations, consulting, or business operations experience with at least 2 years in legal department operations at a technology company (SaaS a plus).
Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management, vendor negotiations, and cost optimization
Project management expertise with ability to lead complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives
Demonstrated experience with legal technology including contract management systems, legal research platforms, and workflow tools
Deep understanding of the current legal technology landscape, including CLM, e-billing, matter management systems, and emerging AI tools for legal productivity.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence.

We thoughtfully consider a wide range of factors when determining individual compensation.The expected salary range for this role for candidates residing in the United States is between $183,400 USD - $245,400 USD. Compensation for candidates residing outside the United States will vary by location and the specific salary range will be discussed during the hiring process. Actual compensation for an individual may vary depending on skills, performance over time, qualifications, experience, and location. In addition to the base salary, the total compensation package also includes an annual bonus, equity and a holistic suite of benefits.Top Skills
