Location: Bay Area (Hybrid) or Fully Remote

Reports to: VP, Communications

At Midi, we are redefining healthcare for women in midlife. We just announced our Series D and reached unicorn status. We are scaling our business, our team, and our impact for the next chapter. To sustain this journey, we need a connected, inspired, and informed workforce.

We are looking for our first Director of Internal Communications to build our internal comms function from the ground up. In this role, you will architect the systems, processes, and rituals that will enable our organization across hundreds of employees spanning both our corporate and clinical teams. If you are equally inspired by high-level strategic thinking and systems design as you are developing breakthrough creative and running a “holy cow, that was a good meeting!” All Hands, we would love to hear from you.

About Midi Health:

Midi Health is the fastest-growing virtual clinic focused exclusively on women’s midlife health. We deliver insurance-covered care for women navigating perimenopause, menopause, and other hormone-related health challenges. Our care model combines clinical expertise with technology to improve access, outcomes, and quality of life for millions of women.

We’ve raised backing from top-tier investors and are scaling rapidly, now caring for hundreds of thousands of patients across the U.S. If you’re energized by building in a fast-growth, mission-driven environment, we’d love to meet you!

About the Role:

You will be the strategic architect of Midi’s internal communications program. Reporting to the VP of Communications, you will have a blank canvas to design how we communicate, how we celebrate wins, and how we navigate the complexities of a matrixed, rapidly evolving organization.

What You’ll Do:
  • Strategic Roadmap: Design and execute a comprehensive internal communications strategy that supports Midi’s business goals and reinforces our mission-driven culture. Set an inspiring vision and secure buy-in from key stakeholders.
  • Executive Partnership: Act as a primary advisor to the leadership team, establish their voices and swim lanes, and craft impactful messaging for All Hands, internal memos, and sensitive organizational changes.
  • Matrix Navigation: Work fluidly across Clinical and Corporate teams to ensure the right message to the right audience at the right time while strengthening our “one team” mentality.
  • Creativity & Content: Develop creative content programs—from video and podcasts to interactive digital experiences—that capture the hearts, minds and attention of our employees.
  • Crisis & Change Management: Exercise strong judgment in high-pressure situations, providing steady guidance and clear communication during periods of rapid change or organizational shifts.
  • Infrastructure Building: Create the right pipes for information to flow. Evaluate and implement the right tech stack (Intranet, Slack protocols, feedback loops) and build with an AI-first mentality.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
  • 10+ years of experience in communications, with a significant portion dedicated to internal comms within high-growth tech or healthcare environments.
  • You know how to influence without formal authority and can navigate complex organizational structures with ease and diplomacy.
  • You can take complex clinical data or technical product roadmaps and turn them into a narrative that resonates with every employee, from clinicians to software engineers.
  • You are a trusted partner for executives. You know how to provide counsel and feedback, read the room, and manage high-stakes meetings.
  • You have a builder mentality. You’re a self starter who doesn’t need a playbook; you want to write one. You are comfortable with ambiguity and thrive in a Series D "roll-up-your-sleeves" environment.
  • You are an “AI Adventurist” — you’ve already been using AI tools to streamline workflows and scale content. You have the curiosity and the judgment to use these tools ethically and effectively, and are excited to supercharge our scrappy team with the smart use of AI.
Bonus Points
  • Design, editing, production skills
  • Event management

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
