What We'll Bring:

The Director of Communications for Global Operations is responsible for leading a strategic communication program for TransUnion’s Global Operations function to help inform and inspire support of TransUnion’s growth and success. As the lead communications strategist for Global Operations, you will serve as a trusted thought partner to the function, identifying and implementing the highest impact opportunities for communications to deliver value to the business. You’ll bring a broad communications lens to strategic decisions, surfacing opportunities and risks, and leverage creative storytelling to convey the team’s vision, strategy and goals in ways that inspire action and build belief.
Aligned to the TU global operating model and matrix structure, the role will report to the Sr. Director of Strategy, Planning & Communications for Global Operations and has a dotted line to the Head of TransUnion’s Corporate Affairs & Communications team. As a leader/member of TransUnion’s Corporate Affairs & Communications team, this role has responsibility broadly for building the reputation of the company as a global information and insights company that makes trust possible in global commerce.
Our ideal candidate will have superior communication expertise, business acumen and people skills, and a strong track record of developing and deploying effective communications across internal and external stakeholder groups to drive business impact. A key responsibility will be envisioning and executing strategic communication plans and messages that help TransUnion associates connect with each other, deliver the business strategy, live our brand and values, and achieve organizational transformation initiatives.
This role requires a candidate be able to develop and oversee execution of creative and compelling communication strategies and messages, and influence across multiple stakeholder groups, cultures and locations. The candidate will be expected to set short- and long-term strategy and drive continuous improvement to TransUnion’s communications playbooks and processes, in alignment with the enterprise strategy and brand. You’ll be responsible for unifying messages across audiences and channels, ensuring clarity, consistency and alignment, and instilling disciplined best practices and structure to maximize impact. The role is required to coach executives and colleagues on their roles as communicators, and optimize the performance of its team as well as indirect contributors and agencies.
The ideal candidate thrives in an energetic global environment that encourages collaboration and innovation. The role liaises with colleagues at all levels across the company, including Executive, Global Operations, Strategy, HR and Marketing leadership. They must be a strategic thinker able to operate at a senior level. They will hold responsibility as the executive communications lead for the Chief Global Operations Officer and contribute to TransUnion’s communications centers of excellence.
The successful candidate must have a growth mindset to help TransUnion and its Global Operations function on the continued journey to build a global operating model with robust scale and scope, leveraging state-of-the-art technology to deliver innovative solutions to consumers and customers to ultimately drive business growth. What You'll Bring:

  • 10+ years relevant professional experience, preferably in both an agency and in house setting, with significant management/senior team exposure
  • A strategic communications mindset that enables you to develop relevant strategies that have real impact and help achieve real business objectives, with a strong track record of success developing, executing and measuring strategic communication programs
  • Exceptional communication skills, including ability to write, edit and present compelling content, with a temperament to confidently represent, persuade others and negotiate in the best interests of TransUnion and its business/functional segments
  • Proven team leadership capabilities (preferably in an international, matrixed organization), including the ability to nurture and develop talent within your own team so they are fulfilled and reach their potential
  • A clear understanding of brand and how best to tell our corporate and functional stories (collaboration with other marketing and communication teams is a must – we are a single brand!)
  • The ability to understand and interpret complex systems and activities, so associates can understand and engage with them
  • A born storyteller, you’ll be proficient generating new ideas and leading projects across multiple marketing communication channels. You’ll be able to appreciate the subtleties of cultural sensitivities and practices whilst maintaining core enterprise key messaging and brand positioning 
  • You’ll be progressive in measuring the impact of your team’s activities and ensuring the outcomes are aligned with enterprise and local business objectives
  • Knowledge and ability to lead, inspire and enable a team developing and deploying compelling content across multiple channels including but not limited to email, intranet sites, presentations, town halls, industry events, website content, bylined articles, videos, talking points, speaker opportunities, Q&A, social media, digital signage, and more
  • Ability to engage with and coach senior executives on strategic communication matters
  • Oversight of multiple budgets and vendors, ensuring they operate within a framework and deliver against agreed statements of work
  • Innovation, creativity, flexibility and initiative – we are keen to try new things and ways of working. This is a newly formed team that aims to lead and demonstrate best practice
  • Ability to form strong, collaborative working relationships (internal and external) at a senior level whilst enabling your team and the centers they serve to operate at their best
  • Strong resource management, prioritization and organizational skills
  • Comfortable working under deadline pressure in a rapidly evolving environment, with strong resource management, prioritization and organizational skills
  • Willingness to support the broader corporate communications team on key projects including the deployment of new technologies and brand narrative
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or another related field and/or professional qualification in related field

Impact You'll Make:

  • Develop and lead TransUnion’s communications strategy and execution for the Global Operations function
  • Serve as strategic communications counsel to key internal stakeholders, providing insight and coaching on communication needs and opportunities
  • Liaise closely with functional,  HR and marketing stakeholders to ensure program alignment, as well as alignment with wider Enterprise frameworks/processes
  • Capacity plan and prioritize activity across the full team and local programs as required
  • Evolve reporting and evaluation metrics as applicable, ensuring activity aligns to wider strategic business goals
  • Maintain core materials necessary for the delivery of the ongoing corporate program (e.g. overall strategy, tactical / activity planners, key message and briefing documents, processes etc.)
  • Enhance and build greater capabilities for our communications activity within Global Operations  
  • Support COO with social media strategy and execution
  • Strengthen our approach to communication for our Global Operations function, driving exceptional results
  • Build our brand with associates –you will be a trusted custodian of our narrative, culture and beliefs
  • Build productive and collaborative relationships with global leadership, which will enable you to identify and deliver against key strategic objectives through compelling storytelling and communications activity
  • You’ll help foster a positive associate experience and showcase our employer of choice status – ultimately helping us attract, develop and retain top-tier talent
  • Set and deliver function-specific strategies and manage projects from start to finish

This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.

Pay Scale Information :

The U.S. base salary range for this position is $150,100.00 - $225,000.00 annually. *The salary range for this position reflects a reasonable estimate of the range of compensation for this job. At TransUnion, actual compensation is based on careful consideration of additional factors such as (but not limited to) an individual’s education, training, work experience, job-related skill set, location, and industry knowledge, as well as the scope and responsibilities of the position and market considerations.

Regular, fulltime non-sales positions may be eligible to participate in TransUnion’s annual bonus plan. Certain positions may be also eligible for long-term incentives and other payments based on applicable company guidance and plan documents.
