The summary above was generated by AI

Core Responsibilities

Professionals who manage screen credits (e.g., Credits Coordinators or Administrators) are responsible for a highly precise and legalistic pipeline:

  • Contract Analysis: Analyze and interpret contracts to summarize legal and guild screen credit obligations. Anticipate and follow up re credit provisions that violate standard process and precedence.
  • Create the exact layout for opening ("main") and closing ("end") titles for each project, making sure they strictly adhere to guild rules (e.g., correct ampersands vs. "and" for writing credits) and follow Sony policy and practice.
  • Administer main and end titles for each project to meet delivery deadlines and ensure contractual and guild compliance.
    • Review and coordinate multiple rounds of main and end titles for each project until final approval.
    • Seek innovative solutions to guild and contractual credit restrictions.
    • Build and update forms and templates to improve team efficiency.
    • Advise and educate partners on best practices, precedents, and guild/union requirements.
    • Coordinate with various internal (e.g., Post Production, Legal Affairs, Creative, Business Affairs, Clearances, Music Legal, etc.) and external (e.g., production and post crew, producers) stakeholders during production and post production regarding all aspects of screen credits. Track all necessary credit revisions from both internal departments and external partners.
    • Create a comprehensive “check-K” document that tracks inconsistencies between the screen credits distributed by the department and contractual and extracontractual items received throughout the footprint of the project.

 Guild Compliance:

  • Filing preliminary documents like the WGA Notice of Tentative Writing Credits. Wrangling and reviewing script submissions and confirming script cover sheets. This also involves liaising with guilds, providing information needed for arbitrations, and handling protests.
  • Obtain all necessary waivers as required from DGA, WGA, SAG, Editors Guild, DGC, etc.
  • Proofing & Delivery: Vetting all titles on final cuts and mastering deliverables for studio/streamer compliance before deadlines.
  • Apply Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) credit standards to SPR movies not produced by SPE.
  • Supervise and Direct Coordinators: Set up task schedule for support staff. Review and maintain policy and process guidelines on project lists.
  • Academy Award and RAISE submissions: Prepare and circulate forms internally. Seek internal approval on draft forms from senior executives. Submit internally approved forms to producers for feedback and approval. Maintain and advise senior executives of ongoing deadlines. Submit forms and respond to queries and requests that the Studio may receive from the Academy.
  • Advise Crunchyroll and SPWA staff re Academy precedence and practice.
  • Review submission information for Golden Globes, BAFTA, etc.
  • Head up meetings on RAISE with D&I, Privacy, Legal Affairs and Marketing.
  • Review one-sheets, start-of-production press releases, and press kit notes.
  • Collaborate with department colleagues and Marketing Contract Compliance on Marketing and Advertising Summaries.  Experience in creating and administrating paid ad items would be a plus.

The successful candidate will also possess the following experience and skills:

  • 7+ years of direct experience administering screen credits; 5+ years leading the screening credits process
  • Union knowledge of Domestic and International Obligations : Working familiarity with Writer (WGA), Director (DGA), and Actor (SAG-AFTRA), Editor’s Guild and DGC, etc., credit manuals.
  • Detail Oriented: The ability to act as an "auditor" of names, titles, and contractual obligations.
  • Information Management: Communicating directly with producers, legal affairs, and studios while operating under tight, fluid post-production timeframes.
  • Ability to work proactively, independently, and reliably under tight time frames in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible, innovative, and solution driven team player

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
