The Director collaborates across segments, markets and the digital teams that drive creative content strategy for Disney’s YouTube channels, ensuring enterprise priorities are reflected in on-channel execution.

Responsibilities:

Enterprise Strategy & Channel Optimization

  • Define the cross-company YouTube channel optimization, including global vs. regional channel approach, channel rationalization, and footprint optimization across Disney’s portfolio
  • Set enterprise-wide content priorities—determining which franchises and brands to invest in based on audience research, brand strategy, and business objectives
  • Establish channel architecture to maximize reach, engagement, and brand consistency
  • Define windowing strategy, balancing audience development with monetization objectives

Governance & Compliance

  • Oversee governance of The Walt Disney Company’s YouTube CMS ecosystem and all underlying channels across business segments
  • Manage content classification and categorization (MFK vs. GA), ensuring all channels are properly configured and integrated into their respective environments
  • Establish and enforce standards for user permissions, advertising policy, channel management, and content compliance
  • Work closely with Legal teams to ensure ongoing regulatory and platform-policy compliance across the enterprise

Policy Development & Oversight

  • Define and maintain enterprise-wide policies spanning channel management, monetization, content classification, and compliance
  • Track adherence to policies across business segments and international markets; identify gaps and drive continuous improvement
  • Serve as the internal authority on YouTube platform policies and their application across Disney’s operations

Performance Measurement & Competitive Intelligence

  • In collaboration with the business segments, define success criteria, KPIs, and enterprise-wide pillars for YouTube content performance
  • Track and analyze performance at brand, franchise, and audience levels; translate data into actionable insights and recommendations
  • Monitor the competitive landscape, platform algorithm evolution, and industry trends to keep Disney’s strategy ahead of the curve

Cross-functional Collaboration & Platform Partnership

  • Drive alignment across lines of business through clear prioritization frameworks and ongoing governance structures
  • Track and report initiative progress to senior leadership
  • Partner closely with digital creative teams responsible for content strategy and channel execution to ensure alignment between enterprise priorities and on-channel delivery
  • Scale best practices for content uploads, metadata management, and compliance across the organization
  • Coordinate with international markets to balance global strategy with regional content needs and audience priorities
  • Partner with the digital teams and directly with YouTube on platform roadmap, algorithm shifts, performance trends, and competitive benchmarks

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Deep expertise in digital platform strategy
  • Strong command of YouTube’s ecosystem—including its algorithm, monetization mechanics, content policies, and governance requirements
  • Equally comfortable defining high-level enterprise strategy and driving operational rigor
  • Demonstrated track record of leading cross-functional initiatives in large, complex organizations
  • A strong background in brand strategy
  • Deep knowledge of performance analytics and ability to create meaningful KPIs
  • Highly developed relationship management skills are essential
  • Experience in media, entertainment, or consumer brands is preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, analytics or related field or equivalent experience

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
