Job Description:

At Disney, we’re storytellers. We make the impossible, possible. The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) is a world-class entertainment and technological leader. Walt’s passion was to continuously envision new ways to move audiences around the world—a passion that remains our touchstone in an enterprise that stretches from theme parks, resorts and a cruise line to sports, news, movies and a variety of other businesses. Uniting each endeavor is a commitment to creating and delivering unforgettable experiences — and we’re constantly looking for new ways to enhance these exciting experiences.

The Enterprise Technology mission is to deliver technology solutions that align to business strategies while enabling enterprise efficiency and promoting cross-company collaborative innovation. Our group drives competitive advantage by enhancing our consumer experiences, enabling business growth, and advancing operational excellence.

Team Description:

The Director, Digital Employee Experience is a highly visible enterprise leadership role within The Walt Disney Company's HR Technology organization. This leader will define and advance the digital employee experience strategy for more than 230,000 employees worldwide, shaping how employees interact with HR technology, AI-enabled tools, automation, onboarding experiences, self-service capabilities, and digital workplace solutions.

Operating at the intersection of employee experience, product management, technology, HR, and digital transformation, the Director will translate employee needs and business priorities into scalable digital products, platforms, and experiences. This is both a strategy and delivery role: the successful candidate will establish the vision and roadmap while ensuring initiatives move from concept through launch, adoption, measurement, and continuous improvement.

What You'll Do:

The Director of Digital Employee Experience will lead employee-facing digital products, platforms, and transformation initiatives. Success requires a collaborative, innovative approach and the ability to influence senior stakeholders and translate strategy into measurable outcomes.

  • Develop and execute a clear, forward-looking strategy for a seamless, intuitive, and consumer-grade digital workplace experience.

  • Establish experience principles, strategic priorities, and a roadmap that align employee needs with enterprise objectives.

  • Advise HR and technology leaders on the trends, opportunities, and investments shaping the future of digital employee experience.

  • Identify where responsible AI, automation, data, and emerging technologies can improve productivity, engagement, and access to services and information.

  • Oversee the full lifecycle of employee-facing products and experiences, from discovery and ideation through design, development, launch, adoption, and continuous improvement.

  • Translate employee insights, business requirements, and complex needs into clear product strategies, requirements, desired outcomes, and measurable success criteria.

  • Partner closely with engineering, product, design, data, HR, and business teams to align priorities and delivery strategies.

  • Use research, feedback, analytics, and industry trends to improve functionality, accessibility, consistency, and overall experience quality.

  • Advance initiatives including My Disney Assistant, digital onboarding and pre-boarding, unified employee portal experiences, and AI-enabled employee services.

  • Identify sources of employee friction and eliminate unnecessary steps, complexity, and manual work through digital solutions.

  • Promote reuse, integration, and interoperability across platforms to create a more cohesive employee experience.

  • Balance employee needs, business value, technology capabilities, responsible AI considerations, and operational scalability.

  • Champion a digital-forward culture and increase adoption of new technologies, products, and ways of working.

  • Lead through ambiguity and resistance, explaining both the purpose of change and the practical path forward.

  • Establish and monitor OKRs, KPIs, and other measures tied to product adoption, employee satisfaction, productivity, and business impact.

  • Create a culture of experimentation, innovation, customer-centricity, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Strong product management and digital platform leadership experience.

  • Experience leading AI, automation, self-service, digital workplace, or comparable technology-enabled transformation initiatives.

  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and modern employee experience platforms.

  • Demonstrated delivery of large-scale enterprise transformation initiatives across complex, cross-functional environments.

  • Ability to create product strategies and roadmaps, manage the full product lifecycle, and use metrics to guide priorities and measure outcomes.

  • Strong cross-functional leadership, executive communication, and influencing skills in a complex enterprise environment.

  • Ability to establish and use OKRs, KPIs, research, analytics, and employee insights to guide priorities and measure business impact.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • HR Technology or digital employee experience expertise.

  • Experience with employee self-service, digital workplace, onboarding, or enterprise employee experience platforms.

  • Experience advancing responsible AI, automation, or emerging technology capabilities in an employee-facing environment.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 12 years of related work experience.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
