Job Description

At Lakeshore, we've spent decades helping educators and families find products that make learning joyful. As Director of Digital and B2C Marketing, you'll lead the team that connects those products to the people who need them — owning our paid search, paid social, email, SMS, and push channels and shaping the end-to-end digital experience that drives customer acquisition and revenue growth. This is a high-visibility role with real ownership: you'll set the strategy, build the team's capabilities, and be accountable for results that matter to the business.

A day on the job looks like this:

  • Own the digital performance marketing roadmap — setting channel strategy, establishing KPIs, and holding the team accountable for measurable improvements in acquisition, engagement, and revenue across paid search, paid social, email, SMS, and push
  • Lead agency and internal team partnerships to identify, prioritize, and execute opportunities for conversion improvement and revenue expansion, including paid campaign launches and creative asset development
  • Drive the evolution of Lakeshore's omnichannel contact strategy, integrating data and customer insights to improve path-to-purchase performance both on-site and in-app
  • Translate performance data into clear direction — communicating priorities, budget decisions, and results to cross-functional partners and senior leadership with confidence and a compelling point of view
  • Coach, develop, and grow a high-performing digital marketing team by setting clear goals, closing capability gaps, and creating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  • Partner with Creative to develop insight-driven briefs and oversee the production of assets that meet both performance standards and brand quality
  • Manage and forecast the paid advertising budget, ensuring disciplined allocation across channels and a strong return on investment

Qualifications

Got the skills and experience? Here’s what we’re looking for:

Required:

  • 8+ years of experience in digital marketing within a B2C ecommerce environment
  • 5+ years leading and developing digital performance marketing teams, with direct accountability for team results
  • Deep hands-on expertise in paid search and paid social platforms (Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, and similar), including campaign strategy, bid management, audience targeting, attribution, and budget forecasting
  • Proven track record building and executing integrated, omnichannel digital marketing strategies that drive measurable business outcomes
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using data to diagnose performance, identify opportunities, and make confident decisions — including proficiency in digital analytics and customer journey tools
  • Experience managing external agencies and cross-functional stakeholders across a complex, fast-moving organization
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field
  • Ability to work onsite in Carson, CA on a hybrid schedule

What sets you apart:

  • You lead with data but communicate with clarity — you can take a complex performance story and make it compelling to a room of executives or a team of specialists
  • You build accountability without micromanaging — your teams know what success looks like and feel equipped to get there
  • You're equally comfortable setting three-year strategy and rolling up your sleeves to pressure-test a media plan
  • You create environments where different perspectives sharpen the work rather than slow it down

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
