Director of Demand Generation - USA

About ArangoDB

At ArangoDB we're on a mission to make working with complex data simple, powerful, and AI-ready. Based in California and in Cologne (with a global team), we’re building a cutting-edge data platform that helps organizations bring all their data together — graph, document, key/value, full-text, and vector search — in one engine.

Why does that matter? Because it means developers and data teams can build next-gen AI applications like RAG, knowledge graphs, and smart agents — without gluing together a bunch of tools that were never meant to work together.

Our platform makes it easy to work with any kind of data-structured, semi-structured, or unstructured, and it gives teams everything they need to build faster, smarter, and with way more context. From our easy-to-learn AQL query language to modern integration tools, we’re here to help teams grow and scale with AI.

Sounds exciting? We think so too. Come join us and help shape the future of data.

Location

Candidates who live in and are authorized to work in the United States will be considered. While this is a work-from-home role, some travel may be required.

About the Role:

We’re at an inflection point: after a decade as a leading graph database company, we’re transforming into the GenAI data platform with graph at its core. We’re looking for a Director of Demand Generation to build and scale a modern demand engine that turns awareness into measurable pipeline and revenue.

This is a critical leadership role, reporting to the CMO, where you’ll align closely with Sales, SDR, Product Marketing, and RevOps to target high-value accounts, accelerate deal velocity, and compete head-on with the biggest names in our category.

What You’ll Do:

  • Architect the Demand Engine: Develop and own the integrated demand generation strategy across acquisition, lifecycle, and retention, including ABM, digital, events, and outbound orchestration.
  • Intent Activation: Own conversion of intent signals (6sense, G2, and first-party data) into meetings and opportunities; partner with SDRs to operationalize fast, consistent follow-up.
  • Field & Partner Marketing: Orchestrate regional events, executive dinners, and partner activations that generate pipeline and accelerate late-stage deals.
  • Website & Conversion Optimization: Own website performance in partnership with Product Marketing and agencies — continuously improve traffic, engagement, and lead flow through conversion rate optimization (CRO).
  • Scale Account-Based Marketing (ABM): Design and operationalize tiered programs (1:1, 1:few, 1:many) that engage senior IT decision-makers and accelerate enterprise pipeline.
  • Build Full-Funnel Programs: Blend digital, content, events, and outbound into cohesive journeys that maximize engagement and conversion.
  • Drive Customer Lifecycle Marketing: Deploy nurture, expansion, and retention programs aligned to buyer and customer journeys to maximize LTV.
  • Operational Excellence: Own attribution, forecasting, reporting, and budget reallocation to ensure investment flows to the highest-yield programs.
  • Innovate & Experiment: Test new channels, tools, and plays that break through in a noisy GenAI market and help us scale faster.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: 7+ years in demand generation, ABM, or growth marketing, preferably in high-growth B2B SaaS.
  • Proven Impact: Strong track record of building and scaling demand engines that deliver measurable pipeline and revenue impact.
  • ABM Expertise: Deep knowledge of ABM strategy and execution, including campaign design, orchestration tools, and personalization.
  • Lifecycle Marketing: Experience mapping lifecycle stages and deploying cross-channel nurture, expansion, and retention programs.
  • Intent Data Mastery: Proven experience turning intent signals into meetings, opportunities, and pipeline.
  • Website & Digital Optimization: Experience owning website performance and improving conversion through SEO, CRO, A/B testing, and analytics.
  • Analytical Mindset: Data-driven with strong operational skills — comfortable owning attribution models, forecasting, and performance dashboards.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficient with Salesforce, HubSpot/Marketo, and ABM platforms like 6sense or Demandbase.
  • Collaborative Leader: Ability to partner across functions and eventually build a high-performing team as the company scales.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry Experience: A strong background in databases, data management, data platforms, and data Infrastructure
  • Entrepreneurial, builder mindset: comfortable rolling up your sleeves to design, launch, and optimize campaigns while building a strong foundation for future scale from the ground up.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
