Ericsson is seeking a visionary and execution-oriented Director of Data Science to lead a high-performing AI/ML team driving and delivering high-impact solutions that advance Ericsson's strategic AI initiatives.
This role will lead a team of data scientists and data engineers working with cutting-edge AI technologies to develop enterprise-grade solutions in collaboration with partners and internal stakeholders across Ericsson's AI portfolio. The Director will play a critical role in identifying strategic engagement opportunities and latest AI technology that will power intelligent, autonomous, and trustworthy networks as part of Ericsson's portfolio.
What you will do
  • Lead and mentor team of data scientists and AI engineers.
  • Build a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and innovation.
  • Develop future AI leaders within the organization.
  • Establish credibility with AI innovation teams and key cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Foster trust, collaboration, accountability, and strong team engagement.
  • Shape ambiguous, early-stage ideas into scalable AI products.
  • Lead innovation efforts in Agentic AI, orchestration frameworks, and telecom foundation model
  • Contribute to technical roadmaps aligned with Ericsson's AI-native strategy.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership
  • Guide architecture decisions for robust, secure, and scalable AI platforms.
  • Ensure AI systems meet performance, reliability, and trustworthiness standards.
  • Engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders with clarity and impact.
  • Partner with product, engineering, research, and portfolio teams globally.
  • Translate complex AI concepts into business value narratives.
  • Drive innovation across organizational boundaries.

What you bring
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of related experience
  • Proven experience leading AI/ML teams in enterprise or research-to-production environments.
  • Demonstrated track record of building and scaling AI products into production.

Deep hands-on expertise with modern AI technologies, including:
  1. Foundation models (LLMs, multimodal models)
  2. Agentic AI systems
  3. Orchestration frameworks
  4. Model evaluation and optimization
  5. Deployment at scale

  • Experience delivering under ambiguity and solving complex system-level challenges.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in telecom, network systems, or AI-for-Networks domains.
  • Experience integrating AI systems into mission-critical enterprise platforms.
  • Background in AI governance, safety, and trustworthy AI systems.

Your Pay
The salary range for this position is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, and the candidate's combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
The salary range for this position is
Santa Clara $235,500-$309,200
Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus. Actual bonus payouts are based on performance of the business against the unit's objectives, individual performance, and the individual bonus target. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.
Your Health
Ericsson offers excellent health benefits including the choice of three medical plan options and a dental plan option that allow an employee to select the level of coverage that suits their needs. Employees will receive company credits in an amount equal to the cost that Ericsson pays toward the cost of their medical and dental premiums for themselves and eligible covered dependents.
Your Financial Security
We invest in both your short and long-term financial wellbeing. The Ericsson US 401(k) Plan offers an automatic 3% company contribution and Ericsson match $1 for every $1 you put into the 401(k) Plan on the first 3% of your eligible pay, plus 50 cents on every $1 on the next 2% of eligible pay. When you contribute at least 5% of eligible pay, you are receiving Ericsson's full matching contributions of 4%. Matching and company automatic contributions stop when your total eligible pay for the year reaches the IRS limits. Employees will also receive company credits in an amount equal to the cost of basic life insurance and basic accidental death and dismemberment coverage, as well as short-term and long-term disability coverage. Employees also have the option to participate in Ericsson's Stock Purchase Plan.
Your Time
Your work-life balance is important to us. New employees are provided a minimum of 15 days of accrued vacation, up to 3 personal days per year, 11 annual holidays, 8 hours of volunteer time, and 80 hours of sick time annually. Please note paid time off is pro-rated based on the employee's start date. Furthermore, Ericsson provides up to 16 weeks of paid maternity leave and 6 weeks of parental or adoption leave at 100% of pay.
