Summary:
Data Science is a driver of significant competitive advantage for Kemper and is critical to the organization’s success. The Kemper Auto team has an immediate need for a talented Data Science leader to support our Commercial Auto line. This individual is responsible for leading a team of data scientists and resident data engineers to develop Data Science capabilities to support various business needs in a portfolio and maintaining strong partnership between data science and target business areas to accelerate adoption of analytical solutions through different maturity stages. Provides coaching and mentoring to junior analysts in the data scientist community.
Responsibilities:
- Leads cross functional discussion with respect to leveraging Data Science capabilities to solve various business problems.
- Supervises a diverse team of data scientists and data engineers to deliver analytical solutions in a portfolio to support the organization.
- Presents analytical insights, results, and suggests business recommendations to external business partners and senior leadership teams.
- Leads Data Science model governance process including planning, documentation, and reviews through model development stages.
- Leads, attracts, and develops a high performing analytic team, including coaching, mentoring, and recruiting junior data scientists. Leads training sessions on statistical modeling and AI/ML technique.
Qualifications:
- Graduate Degree in Mathematics, Engineering, or other STEM fields with 10+ years’ experience in insurance industry or related industry in a data science/predictive environment.
- PhD in Mathematics, Engineering, or other STEM fields preferred with 8+ years’ experience in insurance industry or related industry in a data science/predictive environment.
- 4+ years of proven experience leading an analytic team.
- At least 8 years of firsthand experience with Statistical Modeling and various AI/ML platforms
- Strong domain knowledge in property and casualty insurance products and pricing. Experience with commercial lines pricing models is preferred.
