THE ROLE

The Director of Commercial Planning is a leadership role responsible for driving the commercial strategy and planning process within the organization. This individual will work closely with executive leadership, sales, marketing, finance, and operations teams to develop, execute, and optimize the company’s commercial objectives. The Director of Commercial Planning will ensure alignment between strategic goals and operational performance, analyze key metrics, market trends, and consumer insights to improve business outcomes and profitability.  

This role will also play a critical role in driving key revenue management objectives including brand price position, product assortment, price architecture and promotion optimization.  Integrating revenue management across the organization including processes, tools and training is critical.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1.  Strategic Planning and Forecasting:
    • Lead the development and execution of the commercial planning process, including annual business plans and long-term strategic road maps
    • Develop short-term and long-term revenue forecasts, track performance and identify any deviations or risks.
  2. Revenue Management:
    • Monitor market trends, competitive landscapes, and industry shifts to ensure the company’s offerings are aligned with consumer demand and competitive positioning.
    • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to optimize brand price position, product assortment price architecture, and promotions.
  3. Cross Functional Alignment:
    • Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to ensure alignment between commercial strategy and go-to-market initiatives.
    • Drive the development of sales enablement tools and materials that support commercial objectives and sales targets.
    • Collaborate across departments, including operations, product development, and supply chain, to ensure that commercial strategies are fully integrated into the broader business functions.
  4. Financial Planning and Budgeting:
    • Oversee the creation of the commercial budget, ensuring the allocation of resources to support key strategic initiatives.
    • Work closely with finance teams to monitor and report on P&L performance, identifying opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement.
    • Ensure financial forecasts and performance metrics are accurately tracked and adjusted as necessary.
  5. Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
    • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of commercial strategies, initiatives, and campaigns.
    • Provide regular performance reports to senior leadership, highlighting key insights, challenges, and opportunities.
    • Drive continuous improvement through analysis and reporting of sales performance, conversion rates, and other business metrics

Estimated Travel: 15% 


QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years of experience in commercial planning, sales strategy, or a related field, with some leadership experience.
  • 3+ years of experience working with SPINS, Nielsen and other syndicated data platforms to provide insights.
  • 2+ years of experience in people leadership, managing a team and/or function. 
  • Proven experience in developing and executing strategic commercial plans that drive revenue growth and profitability.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams and influence senior leadership.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to take initiative and work autonomously – you can run with something from beginning to end.
  • Works well with ambiguity and asks the right questions to get at the solution.
  • Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Suite. Experience with team collaboration tools such as Slack and Zoom preferred.

COMPENSATION:

$140,000-$150,000 base salary + bonus
