About Notabene

Notabene is building infrastructure that’s transforming how money moves in the digital economy. We’re evolving beyond our compliance foundations to enable the next generation of digital financial services between regulated institutions with unprecedented efficiency. With nearly 50 employees across 14 countries and having recently closed our Series B round last November with support from leading investors including Y Combinator, DRW, F-Prime, Jump Capital, Castle Island, and Green Visor Capital, we’re looking for people like you to help shape the future rails of the crypto industry!

The Impact You’ll Have

We’re looking for a Director of Operations to design and run the operating system of our fast-scaling business and make it measurably smarter. You’ll own the cadence (OKRs, planning, QBRs, exec reviews) and the company scorecard, turning data → insight → action; leveraging AI systems and automation to build scalable, insight-driven processes that tighten the strategy→execution loop. In parallel, you’ll lead strategic projects as a deployed problem-solver; driving analyses, scenario planning, and leadership-level storytelling to unlock high-leverage bets. You’re energized by ambiguity and problem-finding: you spot unclear ownership and broken loops and turn them into crisp, scalable systems. At this time we are only considering candidates that are located in the Eastern United States or European time zone.

What You’ll Do
  • Build the operating rhythm: Run company-wide OKRs, quarterly planning, QBRs, and exec reviews; ensure on-time, decision-oriented forums

  • Own the company scorecard: Define the KPI taxonomy, align owners and thresholds, ensure data freshness/quality, and publish weekly/Monthly Business Review (MBR) packs

  • Design & scale systems: Partner with Data Eng/Analytics to define KPI taxonomy, data models/pipelines & SLAs; ship BI dashboards that drive decisions and accountability.

  • Analysis → insight → action: Lead root-cause analyses (pipeline health, churn/retention, unit economics, product adoption), synthesize recommendations, and drive follow-through

  • Translate strategy into execution: form hypotheses, validate with data, then drive a plan (owners, milestones, leading/lagging KPIs); own a segment end-to-end and tie it to company strategy.

  • Partner cross-functionally: With RevOps (forecasting & funnel), Finance (budget/ROI), Product/Eng (delivery & quality), CS (retention/health), and Marketing (demand), and the executive team on priority business analyses and decisions

  • Raise the bar: Codify playbooks, improve meeting hygiene, and embed performance discipline across teams

You’re a Good Fit if You Have
  • 5 to 8+ years in BizOps/Strategy/Operations (incl. 2+ in a scaling startup, Series A–C)

  • Analytical horsepower: Strong in spreadsheets; experience with BI tools

  • Operator’s mindset: You design systems that scale (OKRs, planning, reviews) and you close loops

  • Program leadership: You can run multi-team initiatives end-to-end with clear milestones and accountability

  • A problem solver: you have a bias for action and are structured, data-informed, and relentless in tackling what matters most

  • A connector: you are passionate about people, are a strong communicator with the EQ and presence to influence leaders and align teams

  • Familiarity with GTM tools (Hubspot, Gong) and BI tools (Metabase)

Nice to Have
  • Fintech/crypto or B2B SaaS experience

  • Experience in management consulting AND startup experience

  • Familiarity with GTM tools (Hubspot, Gong) and BI tools (Metabase)

You’ll set the cadence (OKRs, planning, reviews), own the company scorecard, turn data into insights that change decisions, and tighten the loop between strategy and execution. You move seamlessly from data → insight → action, and supporting with analysis, scenario planning, and board-level storytelling.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
