Overview of the role:
Join us at PolicyMe! We're modernizing insurance and we'd like your help. The Canadian insurance landscape has remained largely unchanged for decades and we are in the process of changing that. We're a remote-first, Toronto-based startup with big ambitions.

About the Role
We are looking for a strategic and execution-driven Director of BizOps, Strategy & Operations to join our growing team. In this high-impact role, you will own relationships with key insurance and distribution partners, drive the delivery of partner-linked strategic projects, and contribute to the development of our internal operating model.

This isn’t a sales role. It requires strong cross-functional collaboration, sound judgment, and the ability to influence without authority. You will report to our VP of Business Operations and work closely with PolicyMe leadership.

What you'll be doing:

  • Business Operations & Strategic Projects (~50%)
  • Act as a generalist who can flex across multiple domains, providing leverage where the business needs it most.
  • Support VP of Business Operations on broader org-wide initiatives (e.g., compliance, privacy, legal, enterprise risk).
  • Work with Product Management to develop roadmaps and refine new products/features in the context of our strategic partners.
  • Build and structure new strategic growth initiatives, ensuring they are scalable and aligned with company priorities.
  • Contribute to partner systems and enablement playbooks.
  • Own special projects and provide support across evolving business priorities.

  • Partnership Management (~50%)
  • Lead day-to-day engagement with key strategic partners, including planning, operations, and communication.
  • Represent PolicyMe in high-stakes partner meetings with executive presence and discretion.
  • Ensure successful delivery of partnership obligations and roadmap initiatives.
  • Guide new partner activations from contract to launch in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Translate partner feedback and needs into internal priorities and actions.

What we are looking for:

  • 6+ years experience in partnerships, strategic operations, consulting, or similar roles.
  • Proven ability to manage complex partner relationships with empathy and precision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong executive presence.
  • Exceptionally organized with a knack for documentation and follow-through.
  • Politically aware and emotionally intelligent; knows how to navigate complex stakeholder environments.
  • Curious, adaptable, and solutions-oriented.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity and taking initiative.
  • Experience in insurance, financial services, or other regulated industries is considered an asset.
  • Experience managing enterprise partner activations.
  • Familiarity with compliance, privacy, or legal coordination is considered an asset.
  • Experience in fast-paced startup or scale-up environments is considered an asset.

  • Reports To: VP of Business Operations

Why join us:

  • Generous PTO - 20 vacation days
  • Access to stock options and a comprehensive benefits plan
  • A remote-first team with company paid, in-person socials and the option to work from our Toronto-based office
  • Resources to help your professional development, including an L&D budget, performance reviews twice a year and ongoing feedback to ensure you reach your highest potential
  • Work with an empathetic, high-performing team in a flexible, results-oriented environment

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
