About the role

We're looking for a Director of AI Enablement to lead Crunchyroll's enterprise-wide AI Enablement function and accelerate how AI gets adopted across the company.

This is not a traditional transformation or change-management role. We are looking for someone who can work directly with teams to understand how work gets done today, identify where AI and agents can materially improve or redesign those workflows, and turn those opportunities into practical solutions.

Reporting to the Head of Executive Office, you will own the AI Enablement agenda across Crunchyroll. You will lead a lean team, partner closely with Engineering, Enterprise Technology, Data, and other functions, and bring in external AI expertise where it can accelerate progress.

The mandate is designed to evolve. Success means building the capabilities, workflows, tools, and operating muscle so AI becomes embedded in how teams work across Crunchyroll.

Core Areas of Responsibility

  • Own Crunchyroll's enterprise-wide AI Enablement strategy, roadmap, priorities, and operating model
  • Work directly with teams across Crunchyroll to understand their workflows, identify high-value AI opportunities, and redesign how work gets done using AI, agents, and automation
  • Translate business problems into clear AI use cases and workflows, moving opportunities from discovery to prototype, implementation, and adoption
  • Help teams determine where AI can create meaningful value, including when to use simple AI tools, agentic workflows, automation, or deeper technical solutions
  • Partner with Engineering, Enterprise Technology, Data & Insights, IT, and other technical teams to move solutions from concept into scalable, secure, and production-ready applications
  • Own the company-wide AI learning and capability-building agenda, ensuring teams have the right programs, resources, experiences, and expertise to build practical AI fluency and apply it to their work
  • Identify, screen, and manage external AI experts, vendors, and partners who can accelerate capability-building, workflow redesign, and solution delivery
  • Build repeatable approaches, playbooks, and patterns that allow successful AI use cases and workflows to scale across functions
  • Establish the milestones, metrics, and governance for AI adoption and report progress through the Executive Office's existing operating cadence
  • Lead and develop a lean, high-performing AI Enablement team, setting priorities and concentrating resources on the highest-impact opportunities
  • Build networks and communities of practice across the company that help AI expertise and successful ways of working spread beyond the central team
  • Stay close to developments across AI, agentic systems, tools, and platforms, and translate what matters into practical opportunities for Crunchyroll

We are considering applicants available to work a hybrid schedule, with three days each week onsite at our Los Angeles office.

About You

We get excited about candidates, like you, because...

  • 12+ years of experience, starting in engineering, computer science, software development, or a similar technical field before moving into strategy, management consulting, business transformation, or AI enablement
  • Proven experience leading enterprise AI enablement or AI transformation across multiple teams or functions
  • Track record of redesigning multiple complex, manual workflows using AI, agents, and automation, with measurable business impact
  • Strong ability to understand how a team works today, identify where AI can create value, and define a better way of working
  • Technical fluency in GenAI, AI agents, automation, APIs, data, and enterprise technology, without needing to be the person who builds the solution
  • Experience translating business needs into clear AI use cases and workflow designs that Engineering, ML, Data, or other technical teams can build and scale
  • Strong judgment about when to use existing AI tools, agents, automation, or more complex technical solutions
  • Experience setting AI priorities and taking initiatives from opportunity identification through implementation, adoption, and results
  • Strong executive communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work across business and technical teams
  • Experience leading small, high-performing teams
  • MBA or other advanced business degree preferred, but not required

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
