  • Coordinate the development, routing and delivery of social assets, working with internal creative teams, filmmakers, external agencies and other partners.
  • Monitor social platforms, online communities and conversations around our projects, talent and studio, identifying opportunities for engagement and timely content.
  • Support community management and audience engagement across SPA social channels.
  • Stay current on social trends, emerging platforms, creators and evolving audience behaviors, and bring forward ideas for how SPA can participate in relevant and authentic ways.
  • Help identify behind-the-scenes, filmmaker, artist and talent-driven storytelling opportunities that can be extended across social and digital platforms.
  • Support social coverage for premieres, screenings, festivals, conventions, junkets and other publicity and studio events.
  • Partner closely with the Publicity team to amplify press moments, announcements, interviews and other campaign opportunities across social channels.
  • Track social performance and campaign results and help prepare reporting and insights to inform future content and campaigns.
  • Maintain organized records of content, assets, approvals and campaign materials across multiple projects.
  • Collaborate with Sony Pictures Entertainment teams, distribution partners, agencies and other stakeholders to coordinate social activity and ensure alignment across campaigns.
  • Support multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1–3 years of experience in social media, digital marketing, digital publicity, communications or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience supporting social media channels for a brand, entertainment property, agency, media company or other organization.
  • Strong understanding of major social platforms and how audiences engage with content across them.
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to adapt copy and tone for different platforms, audiences and projects.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Creative thinker with strong instincts for engaging social content and digital storytelling.
  • Familiarity with social publishing, scheduling, listening and/or analytics tools.
  • Comfortable using social performance data and audience insights to understand what is working and inform future content.
  • Collaborative approach and ability to work effectively with creative teams, filmmakers, talent, executives, agencies and other partners.
  • Sound judgment and discretion when working with unreleased content, talent and other confidential information.
  • Interest in social trends, entertainment, pop culture and emerging digital platforms.
  • Experience with entertainment, animation, film, television and/or fandom communities is a plus, but not required.
  • Interest in animation, filmmaking and creative storytelling.
  • Ability to work outside of standard business hours as required for key social moments and events, including premieres, festivals, screenings and conventions.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
