Job Description

The Container Platform Technical Digital Product Manager will define, deliver, and manage the lifecycle of the Container Platform as part of the strategic Platform as a Service portfolio. This role owns product vision, discovery, roadmaps, and backlog prioritization to maximize the value delivered by the platform. Successful Product Managers identify assumptions, validate them through product discovery techniques, and translate insights into measurable outcomes. The Container Platform Digital Product Manager will build strong relationships with stakeholders and partners to support Allstate’s Kubernetes-based container platform across data centers, AWS, and Azure cloud environments.
The Container Platform product team integrates a wide variety of vendor and open-source technologies to create a self-healing, scalable, secure container platform. The platform delivers a consistent, frictionless hosting experience so digital products can thrive without boundaries. Technologies include Kubernetes, networking, DNS, servers, load balancers, service mesh, Flux, image management, CI/CD tools, scripts, YAML, Terraform Enterprise, security tooling, and related platform capabilities.
The Digital Product Manager role is highly technical and hands-on.
Digital Product Managers actively contribute to a learning culture by coaching and mentoring product teams, stakeholders, and peers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create, drive and execute product strategy for our expanding Kubernetes container platform.

• Create and execute a comprehensive product roadmap that prioritizes platform features, enhancements, and measurable outcomes.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to define success criteria, validate assumptions, and understand platform and digital product team needs.

• Navigate complex container technologies, leveraging insights to inform product decisions.

• Decompose complex problems into manageable work items and prioritize them based on value, risk, and stakeholder impact.

• Develop and execute internal and external communication strategies that increase product awareness, adoption, and stakeholder alignment.

• Define and manage metrics to measure the success of your efforts and to inform the overall product strategy.

• Engage in discovery/test & learn activities to quickly validate assumptions and product direction.

• Own and drive lifecycle management ensuring all stack components are regularly updated meeting vulnerability management standards without impacting hosted applications.

• Manage your product backlog balancing feature delivery with lifecycle management to reduce operational and security risks.

Essential Qualifications:

• 5+ years relevant new product or technology development experience working in a fast-paced environment.

• Experience with Platform as a Service or container orchestration software across multiple Kubernetes distributions, such as RKE2, EKS, AKS, or GKE.

• Basic understanding of Kubernetes container platform concepts and experience executing kubectl commands. 

• Solid understanding of and experience with cloud services across multiple cloud service providers.

• Solid understanding of infrastructure-as-code and immutable infrastructure concepts. 

• Clear passion for topics of technology products and an ability to identify possibilities to innovate in our product space. 

• Experience operating in an environment driven by KPIs where you have the accountability to determine the best course of action to meet your goals. 

• Ability to communicate complex and innovative concepts to a new product development team. 

• Proficiency in agile ceremonies and methodologies i.e. iterations, technical story writing, point systems and refinements. 

• Effectively lead and collaborate across boundaries with technical and non-technical resources to implement decisions and/or initiatives. 

• Excellent written/verbal communication and facilitation skills for communicating at all levels (employees and leaders); including strong presentation skills. 

• Strong interpersonal, analytical, time management and organizational skills. 

• Comfort with ambiguity and able to independently drive resolution of issues and challenges. 

• Ability to be self-directed and to proactively anticipate problems and seek opportunities. 

 

Desirable Qualifications: 

• Knowledge of API development, API testing, and basic SQL database queries. 

• Entrepreneurial, action-oriented mindset, preferably with experience shipping software. 

• Experience working on projects that successfully leverage continuous integration and continuous delivery. 

Teams typically work EST in order to collaborate with global partners.

Compensation

Compensation offered for this role is 120,000.00 - 193,725.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.
