Overview

We are seeking a DevOps Engineer Technical Lead to provide both hands-on technical leadership and team management for a high-performing DevOps engineering group. You will shape and deliver the infrastructure behind our flagship product and supporting systems, balancing deep technical contributions with people leadership.

The ideal candidate brings Ansible subject-matter expertise with extensive molecule testing experience, proven DevOps leadership skills, and the ability to guide complex automation and deployment efforts with a focus on zero-downtime deployments.

Responsibilities
  • Lead infrastructure as code and release automation efforts for our core product and supporting components.
  • Mentor and guide team members, fostering both technical and professional growth.
  • Partner with Product and Platform teams to align priorities, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to design scalable, secure, and reliable solutions.
  • Contribute to the code base and actively participate in code reviews.
  • Ensure adherence to engineering standards and best practices.
  • Provide tier 3 production support as necessary.
  • Coordinate sprint planning, backlog refinement, and progress reporting.
Qualifications
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Strong professional experience with infrastructure as code automation and testing framework automation, particularly Ansible and Molecule.
  • Proven experience in technical leadership within a DevOps engineering environment.
  • In-depth understanding of infrastructure design patterns, system architecture, and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with scripting (Bash/Python), Terraform, AWS Deployments, and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Docker, GitHub).
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience leading hybrid or remote teams.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs), as well as SD-WAN, and network encryption.
  • Exposure to observability best practices (monitoring, logging, alerting).
  • Prior experience delivering solutions for government programs or contracts.

Success in the First 90 Days

  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of team priorities, blockers, and delivery targets.
  • Build strong relationships with platform and product engineering leadership.
  • Guide the team to deliver at least one complete feature aligned with business priorities.
  • Establish a reputation for strong technical insight and effective cross-team collaboration.
