Only LATAM-based candidates (bilingual in Spanish and English)

We’re looking for a Junior Software Developer to join the engineering team supporting a web and mobile platform used in the daily operations of a U.S.-based materials company.

This opportunity is suited to a recent graduate or early-career developer with solid programming fundamentals, hands-on project experience, and an interest in modern web, mobile, and cloud technologies.

Extensive professional experience is not required. We welcome candidates who can demonstrate their skills through university projects, internships, personal applications, or open-source contributions.

You’ll work alongside experienced developers, contribute to an existing production application, and take on greater responsibility as you build your knowledge of the platform.

What you’ll do
  • Develop and maintain assigned features across web, backend, and mobile applications with guidance from experienced developers.

  • Help build, consume, and integrate REST APIs.

  • Work with PostgreSQL databases and write queries to support application features.

  • Investigate bugs, review logs and error messages, reproduce issues, and test fixes.

  • Write and maintain automated tests.

  • Use Git and GitHub for branches, issues, pull requests, and code reviews.

  • Clarify business requirements and translate them into technical tasks with the team.

  • Document changes, setup instructions, and troubleshooting steps.

  • Communicate progress, questions, and blockers clearly in English.

  • Build independence on assigned tasks while recognizing when to ask for support.

  • Help prioritize production issues that affect users and daily operations.

Self-Management

  • Independently manage workload in a 100% remote environment.
  • Consistently meet established deadlines and provide regular progress updates.
  • Demonstrate ownership of assigned tasks and proactively track requests through GitHub or other project management tools.

Requirements

What we’re looking for
  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent technical training.

  • Solid understanding of programming fundamentals, object-oriented programming, data structures, and relational databases.

  • Hands-on project or internship experience with Java/Spring Boot and React.

  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL, including basic queries and relational data modeling.

  • Ability to develop or consume REST APIs.

  • Working knowledge of Git/GitHub, including branching and pull requests.

  • Basic understanding of debugging, error handling, and automated testing.

  • Professional English skills for team meetings, documentation, and discussing technical work.

  • Willingness to learn, apply feedback, investigate problems, and follow through on assigned tasks.

Additional relevant knowledge

Exposure through coursework, projects, or internships to the following is valuable:

  • Kotlin

  • React Native / Expo and mobile development

  • AWS and cloud-based applications

  • Docker / Linux

  • CI/CD, particularly GitHub Actions

  • Requirements analysis and technical documentation

  • Modern SaaS development practices

You do not need production-level expertise in every technology. You should be able to explain what you have built, which parts you implemented yourself, and how you tested or debugged your work.

Our technology environment
  • Frontend: React, TypeScript, Vite, Tailwind CSS

  • Mobile: React Native, Expo, Kotlin

  • Backend: Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security / Spring Cloud

  • Database: PostgreSQL, JPA / Hibernate

  • Infrastructure: AWS, Docker, Linux, GitHub Actions

  • Testing and tools: JUnit, Jest, Vitest, Cypress, Postman, Git/GitHub

Growth in the role

You’ll begin with defined tasks and technical guidance. As you demonstrate reliable delivery, sound technical judgment, and a deeper understanding of Haul Tech, you’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of more complex work and grow toward senior-level responsibilities.

Benefits
  • Flexible remote work environment.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and learning.
  • Work on challenging and innovative projects.
  • Collaborate with a supportive and skilled team.
Position details
  • Independent contractor services agreement.

  • Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Florida time.

  • Full dedication to the role during scheduled hours.

  • Own computer/workstation and stable internet connection required.

  • Monitoring and productivity software installed within a dedicated work session.

  • Monthly payments through Deel.

How to apply

Submit your résumé and, if available, your GitHub profile or portfolio. Include a brief description of a relevant project, the technologies used, and your individual contribution.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
