JOB TITLE: Design QA Manager

Position Summary:

The Design QA Manager is an individual contributor responsible for ensuring all creative output meets athenahealth’s brand standards, quality requirements, and executional expectations. This role serves as a critical quality control and brand governance function across a wide range of marketing deliverables, with a focus on work produced through freelance resources, AI-enabled workflows, self-service templates, and internal stakeholders.

This role is highly hands-on and will actively review, edit, and correct assets to ensure consistency, accuracy, and polish before final delivery. The Design QA Manager is empowered to identify issues, push back on work that does not meet brand requirements, and help raise the overall standard of execution across marketing materials. In addition to quality oversight, this role will also identify opportunities to improve production processes and drive greater efficiency over time.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Review, assess, and quality check creative materials across all channels and formats to ensure alignment with brand standards and executional requirements

  • Maintain strong brand governance across all deliverables, ensuring consistency in visual identity, tone, formatting, and overall presentation

  • Focus review and refinement efforts on a wide range of marketing assets, including:

    • PowerPoint decks

    • Social media assets

    • Paid media creative

    • Print collateral such as datasheets and case studies

    • Email marketing assets

  • Edit, correct, and refine creative work as needed to bring materials to a polished, final state

  • Confidently give feedback when work that does not meet brand, quality, or execution standards

  • Partner closely with marketing stakeholders to ensure deliverables are accurate, consistent, and ready for use

  • Identify and recommend opportunities to improve production workflows, streamline repeatable tasks, and increase efficiency

  • Support the ongoing elevation of creative quality across all marketing outputs

Expected Education & Experience:

  • 5–7 years of experience in design production, creative quality assurance, or brand-focused marketing design

  • Deep experience working within established brand guidelines and maintaining visual consistency across channels

  • Strong portfolio or background demonstrating high standards in design execution and asset refinement

  • Experience reviewing and editing a broad range of marketing materials, including presentations, digital assets, print collateral, and email

  • Strong attention to detail and a highly critical eye for quality, accuracy, and consistency

  • Ability to provide clear, direct, and constructive feedback in a collaborative environment

  • Comfort working independently and exercising sound judgment when evaluating creative work

  • Strong communication and partnership skills, particularly with marketing teams and creative contributors

  • Experience with production workflows and an interest in identifying operational improvements

  • Experience reviewing work produced through AI-assisted workflows, freelance teams, or template-based production models

  • Familiarity with marketing production processes and asset management practices

  • Ability to balance speed, quality, and brand consistency in a fast-moving environment

  • A proactive mindset focused on improving quality, efficiency, and executional excellence


Expected Compensation

$85,000 - $145,000

The base salary range shown reflects the full range for this role from minimum to maximum. At athenahealth, base pay depends on multiple factors, including job-related experience, relevant knowledge and skills, how your qualifications compare to others in similar roles, and geographical market rates.  Base pay is only one part of our competitive Total Rewards package - depending on role eligibility, we offer both short and long-term incentives by way of an annual discretionary bonus plan, variable compensation plan, and equity plans.
