Atlassian's Admin Experience team is seeking a passionate and strategic Design Manager to lead a talented group of designers across critical initiatives that power the Admin Hub and broader Global Administration Experiences, ultimately unlocking and enabling the Atlassian System of Work for millions of users worldwide.
As the Design Manager, you will be responsible for shaping the vision, strategy, and execution of admin experiences that scale across Atlassian's platform. You'll partner deeply with product, engineering, research, and content to deliver seamless, intuitive, and impactful solutions for our customers. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire: Manage, coach, and develop a high-performing team of product and content designers, helping them grow their craft and impact.
- Set strategy: Define and drive the Admin Experience design strategy, ensuring alignment with Atlassian's platform vision and business goals.
- Cross-functional partnership: Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineering Leads, and other cross-functional partners to shape roadmaps, define priorities, and deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Craft excellence: Establish and maintain a high-quality bar for design work, championing customer-centric design thinking and practices.
- Team operations: Oversee team rhythms, reporting, and rituals (e.g., crits, design reviews, onboarding), supported by Design Ops.
- Recruitment & onboarding: Lead hiring and onboarding for new designers, ensuring a smooth and inclusive experience.
- Champion collaboration: Model and foster healthy triad (Design, Product, Engineering) partnerships, and drive cross-team alignment.
- Drive impact: Foster a culture of continuous improvement, enabling the team to deliver exceptional results for the Admin Experience.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience managing design teams, with a proven track record of developing talent and delivering high-craft, high-impact work.
- Experience leading platform or complex conceptual model work, ideally in SaaS or enterprise environments.
- Demonstrated ability to set vision and strategy, and break it down into actionable, deliverable pieces.
- Strong facilitation, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence at all levels-including senior leadership.
- Hands-on experience as a product designer; you know what it takes to ship great design.
- Deeply customer-focused, with a passion for building experiences that scale and delight.
- Experience working with distributed teams and collaborating across time zones.
- A self-starter with a growth mindset, curiosity, and a drive for continuous improvement.
- Based in Australia or New Zealand, with the ability to work closely with the local team.
