Your Role

As the Design Lead at Sentient Labs, you will define and drive the vision for design across our product and brand ecosystem, from high-level strategy to hands-on delivery. You will unify multiple product experiences into a coherent design language while dramatically increasing design velocity. This is a high-autonomy role, reporting directly to senior leadership, where you will be empowered to make impactful design decisions that shape the future of the Sentient technology stack and community experience.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead design strategy and execution across product, brand, and marketing, ensuring coherence across user journeys, dashboards, developer tools, and community touchpoints.

  • Establish and own a cohesive design system that serves as a single source of truth for product, marketing, and engineering teams.

  • Translate brand vision into engaging product experiences that align with Sentient Labs’ mission and roadmap.

  • Design key flows, UI components, and visual assets hands-on, balancing high-quality delivery with speed.

  • Guide and mentor internal designers, and manage external creative collaborators to maintain quality and consistency

  • Integrate brand identity seamlessly into the product experience, not just marketing collateral.

  • Identify and resolve design process bottlenecks to improve output without sacrificing quality.

What You’ll Need

  • Proven experience leading both product and brand design in technology companies.

  • Strong hands-on skills in UI/UX, interaction design, and visual design.

  • Experience creating and scaling design systems.

  • Ability to manage internal teams and external collaborators with a focus on delivery and quality.

  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex user experience challenges.

  • Excellent communication skills and leadership presence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in consumer or Web2 design leadership, with exposure to AI, blockchain, fintech, or developer platforms.

  • Experience designing dashboards, data-rich products, or multi-product ecosystems.

  • Recognized thought leadership or strong online design presence.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
