About the Role
A Database Administrator (DBA) will work closely with Engineering, Architecture, and Operations teams building and supporting our mission-critical database systems as Business Wire undertakes a digital transformation journey. As a member of the DBA team, you will be responsible for defining and supporting new and existing database systems across public cloud and traditional data centers. Help guide best practices in database administration, data high availability, database management, database design, process improvement, requirements analysis and introducing innovation with a focus on automation.
What You'll Do
- Manage full database lifecycle to include initial installation and configuration of database technologies, to deploy engineered system design solutions, daily operations, administration, upgrades, and management of database technologies.
- Provide high-end technical DBA support within a variety of operating environments while also supporting/assisting software development and operational teams with database definition, structure, long-range requirements, operational guidelines, and security/integrity controls according to industry best practices.
- Propose and implement enhancements to improve performance and reliability within the supported IT environments.
- Install, configure, upgrade, and patch Oracle EBS environments, including both database and application tiers.
- Manage EBS concurrent managers, workflows, and patch application.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across database and application tiers.
- Subject matter expert: performance tuning and administration. Adept at analyzing and tuning SQL and Oracle EBS.
- Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution.
- Work closely with L1/L2/L3 support teams to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Participate in 24x7 On Call rotation.
What You'll Need
- 5+ years of hands-on Oracle, MySQL, and MongoDB database experience in a mission critical 24x7 environment.
- Proven experience managing Oracle EBS environments, including installation, patching, cloning, and performance tuning.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment with an understanding of ITIL.
- Experience with full database lifecycle management: upgrades, patching, cloning, backups, and recovery.
- Experience with automated database deployment using Jenkins, Ansible, or similar tools.
- Understanding of Unix operating systems.
- 4+ years AWS experience designing and supporting hyper-scale mission critical database architecture is a plus.
- 2+ years proficiency in writing, profiling, and optimizing SQL queries for performance is a plus.
- Understanding of Data Warehouse, Datamarts, Data Lake, Modeling and profiling is a plus.
- The base salary range for this position is $115K to $125K/year. Offered salary will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to: applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with geographic market data. Business Wire reserves the right to modify this salary range at any time.
