What you will be doing? 

This position is contingent upon contract award. We are currently pursuing a proposal and are seeking qualified candidates to include in our submission and identify candidates for future hiring needs on the program once awarded.

For this position, we are seeking a talented individual to join AIS as a Data Scientist. As your initial project assignment, you will support the unique needs of our client as a Data Scientist. Project Summary

The Data Scientist will support data-driven decision-making by collecting, integrating, analyzing, and visualizing complex datasets. This role focuses on developing analytical models, producing performance metrics, and delivering actionable insights to stakeholders. The ideal candidate will apply statistical techniques, data engineering practices, and visualization tools to improve organizational performance, enhance reporting capabilities, and support operational initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect, validate, process, and analyze large and complex datasets from multiple sources.

  • Participate in data evaluation and review processes; document, track, and monitor data issues through resolution.

  • Develop reports, dashboards, charts, and other data products to support leadership decision-making.

  • Produce statistical summaries, trend analyses, and performance metrics.

  • Maintain and update datasets and data sources to ensure accuracy of reporting and dashboards.

  • Respond to data inquiries using advanced statistical methods and research techniques.

  • Identify trends, anomalies, and performance improvement opportunities.

  • Construct queries and scripts using Python, R, SQL, or similar tools to support data extraction and analysis.

  • Develop and maintain ETL pipelines to support regular data ingestion and transformation.

  • Perform exploratory data analysis and statistical modeling.

  • Develop predictive models and algorithms to support prioritization, forecasting, and decision-making.

  • Support briefings and presentations with analytical findings and supporting data products.

  • Design and deliver interactive dashboards and visual analytics using tools such as Tableau or equivalent.

  • Translate complex datasets into clear, concise, and actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Required for This Opportunity
  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field

  • 3+ years of experience in data science, data analytics, or a related discipline

  • Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and Excel

  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau (or equivalent)

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills

  • Experience working with large, complex datasets

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences

  • Active Secret clearance (minimum requirement); higher clearances may be required

Nice to Have Skills
  • Experience working with law enforcement, investigative, or similarly structured datasets

  • Familiarity with ETL pipeline development and data engineering practices

  • Experience with predictive modeling and machine learning techniques

  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality frameworks, and audit processes

  • Experience developing executive-level dashboards and performance reporting frameworks

  • Familiarity with network analysis or relational data modeling

At AIS, we are committed to offering competitive and fair compensation that reflects the skills, experience, and contributions of each team member. The targeted base salary range for this role is $94,000-$141,000 per year. Please note that this range is provided as a guideline and the final offer will be based on several factors, including but not limited to, skillset and competencies, level of experience, education, certifications, and location. We value transparency in our hiring process and are happy to discuss how your unique qualifications align with our compensation structure during the interview process.
