The Data Scientist will play a key role in developing and implementing data-driven solutions across various business functions, collaborating with cross-functional teams to analyze complex data sets, derive actionable insights, and drive strategic decision-making.
The Data Scientist will design, deliver, and optimize powerful insights and visuals with a primary focus on, but not limited to, use of advanced analytics and AI. This role is expected to possess business, data, and analytics expertise to handle advanced analytics initiatives. The incumbent is self-motivated and able to work independently on significant projects or in a supporting role on multiple projects simultaneously, and is responsible for making connections and integrating work across teams and departments.
Working closely with data solutions architects and other leaders, the incumbent ensures alignment of prioritization of work and appropriate allocation of resources. The incumbent will participate in efforts around process improvement to enhance team effectiveness in leveraging advanced analytics tools and techniques in our Google Cloud environment.
Responsibilities:Data Exploration: Explore and preprocess data from various sources, measuring and ensuring data quality and integrity.
Advanced Analytics: Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to collect and analyze large datasets and identify patterns by developing predictive models using frameworks like Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
Model Development: Design, build, and validate predictive models to solve business problems.
Data Visualization: Create compelling visualizations to communicate findings and insights to stakeholders.
Collaboration: Work closely with business leaders, product managers, data scientists, and engineers to translate business requirements into analytical solutions.
Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data science.
Question, validate, and perform quality assurance of the data for integrity and consistency to support ongoing data quality assessment and improvement initiatives.
Understand all applicable data privacy and security laws, rules, regulations, and contractual restrictions, and follow all Surescripts data governance and data usage rights policies and procedures.
Demonstrate ability to communicate complex analytic results in a clear and concise fashion to business stakeholders.
Summarize and synthesize large bodies of work down to the essential elements and convey those results effectively and efficiently, in both written and oral form, to business stakeholders.
Effectively communicate with & engage colleagues at all levels of the organization.
Develop internal and external networks of contacts and have a positive influence on those networks.
Play a key role in supporting corporate initiatives and support senior leadership initiatives to realize Surescripts' goals.
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or other related field; or equivalent experience
2+ years of experience in data science, data management and/or applying data analysis and reporting skills in a business context
2 years of experience with large transactional datasets/reporting
2 years of experience in healthcare transaction data, including QA, testing and reporting
Fluency in programming languages to facilitate analysis (e.g. Python, R, or MATLAB)
Statistical modeling and machine learning experience
Proficiency in Advanced Excel and PowerPoint
Proficiency with SQL, Relational and NoSQL databases, and Structured and Unstructured data
Ability to translate statistical analysis into a written and verbal presentation for non-data science audience.
Analytical background and research experience with large volumes of data
Experience with Reporting Platforms such as Tableau Server/Software
Knowledge of privacy laws and regulations around health data (HIPAA)
Experience with data science workbench environments (JupyterLab or others)
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics)
Health IT industry knowledge with a special focus on e-prescribing
Experience with statistical analysis and rigor, statistical software (R or SAS)
Experience with applied machine learning, large language models or natural language processing.
Cross-functional team project experience
Google Cloud environment experience
Experience migrating data science products to production systems (MLOPs)
Experience with MLOps frameworks such as GCP, DataBricks, or SnowFlake
